Barbara Cass-Beggs
Barbara Cass-Beggs (November 10, 1904 – September 13, 1990) was an English-born Canadian folk song collector, singer and teacher. She was director of the University Settlement Music School at the University of Toronto and was a faculty member of the Regina Conservatory of Music as vocal teacher. Cass-Beggs set up the Regina Junior Concery Society in 1957 and collected folk songs for use in teaching. She was a private music educator to children and did pre-school teacher music courses at Algonquin College's early childhood education. An award and scholarship are named after Cass-Beggs whose personal objects are in the collection of the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan. Roy Beggs Jr (born 3 July 1962) is an Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) politician, who was a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for East Antrim from 1998 until March 2022. Beggs is the son of the politician Roy Beggs, who was the UUP Member of Parliament (MP) for East Antrim from 1983 to 2005. He served as a local councillor on Carrickfergus Borough Council from 2001 to 2011. During this period he had been elected as Chairman of the District Policing Partnership and vice-chairman of the Local Strategic Partnership and of the Community Safety Partnership. Pamela Anne Beggs (née Austin; born 23 May 1947) is a former Australian politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1983 to 1993, representing the seat of Whitford. Beggs was born in Inverell, a country town in northern New South Wales, and raised in country Western Australia, attending primary school in Greenbushes and high school in Bridgetown and Bunbury. After leaving school, she served in the Women's Royal Australian Air Force (WRAAF) for a period, and subsequently worked as a dietician and as a laboratory assistant. Joseph Stanley Beggs (November 4, 1910 – July 19, 1983), nicknamed "Fireman", was an American professional baseball pitcher. He played for the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, and New York Giants of Major League Baseball. With the Reds, he was a member of the 1940 World Series champions.
