"Before You" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk. It was released as the lead single from Kreviazuk's second studio album, ''Colour Moving and Still'', on 7 September 1999. The song peaked at number two on the Canadian ''RPM'' Top Singles chart, behind " I Knew I Loved You" by Savage Garden, and is Kreviazuk's biggest hit in Canada to date. Kreviazuk performed the song live at the 2000 Juno Awards. Chantal Jennifer Kreviazuk (; born May 18, 1974) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, composer, and pianist. Born in Winnipeg, she played music from a young age before signing with Columbia Records in the 1990s. Her debut studio album, ''Under These Rocks and Stones'', was first released in Canada in 1996 and saw commercial success before being issued in the United States the following year to critical praise. Kreviazuk released two more studio albums with the Columbia label, ''Colour Moving and Still'' (1999) and '' What If It All Means Something'' (2002), both of which brought moderate commercial success worldwide. She signed with Sony BMG for her fourth album, ''Ghost Stories'' (2006), which reached number two on the Canadian Albums Chart. Contemporary hit radio (also known as CHR, contemporary hits, hit list, current hits, hit music, top 40, or pop radio) is a radio format that is common in many countries that focuses on playing current and recurrent popular music as determined by the Top 40 music charts. The ''Gavin Report'' was a San Francisco-based radio industry trade publication. The publication was founded by radio performer Bill Gavin in 1958. Its Top 40 listings were used for many years by programmers to decide content of programs. The publication was also responsible for running the Gavin Seminar, a convention for radio industry members. In February 2002, United Business Media, who had owned the Gavin Report since 1992, decided to close the publication.
