''Before I Wake'' (also known as ''Somnia'' in some international territories) is a 2016 American dark fantasy horror film directed and edited by Mike Flanagan and co-written by Flanagan and Jeff Howard. The film stars Kate Bosworth, Thomas Jane, Jacob Tremblay, Annabeth Gish, and Dash Mihok. ''Before I Wake'' premiered at Fantasia on July 31, 2016, and Netflix released it in the United States on January 5, 2018. Mike Flanagan (director)
Mike Flanagan (born May 20, 1978) is an American filmmaker and partner in Intrepid Pictures. Flanagan is best known for his work in horror films and television series, which has attracted the praise of critics for his directing and lack of reliance on jump scares. Stephen King, Quentin Tarantino, and William Friedkin, among others, have praised him. A lance is a spear designed to be used by a mounted warrior or cavalry soldier (lancer). In ancient and medieval warfare, it evolved into the leading weapon in cavalry charges, and was unsuited for throwing or for repeated thrusting, unlike similar weapons of the javelin and pike family typically used by infantry.
