David Enoch Beem
David Enoch Beem (June 24, 1837 – October 23, 1923) was a prominent lawyer, banker, and American Civil War veteran from Spencer, Owen County, Indiana. Beem, who attained the rank of captain of Company H, 14th Indiana Infantry Regiment, fought in numerous battles in the eastern United States before he mustered out of the Union army in June 1864. After the war Beem resumed his law practice in Spencer and became involved in local banking ventures. He was also active the state's Republican Party and civic affairs. Beem, a graduate of Indiana University, class of 1860, served on Purdue University's board of trustees for eighteen years. He also participated in the Grand Army of the Republic at local and state levels. Beem's papers and letters are preserved in the collections of the Indiana Historical Society in Indianapolis. Eva and Abraham Beem were Dutch Jewish siblings and victims of the Holocaust in the Netherlands. They had been given new identities with a Christian family in an attempt to evade deportation by the Nazis, but were discovered and deported to Auschwitz concentration camp. They were murdered in the gas chamber upon their arrival on 6 March 1944. Biography Eva (born 21 May 1932) and Abraham (born 13 June 1934) Beem were born in Leeuwarden, in the northern Netherlands. Their father, Hartog Beem, was a German teacher, and their mother was Rosette Beem. Both parents were Jews, and active in the Jewish community. Frances Beem was an early 20th-century American author and illustrator of children's books. Early life and education Frances M. Beem was born in Illinois on May 5, 1881. Her father was born in Indiana and her mother in either Indiana or Wisconsin. She had one brother, Jacob Darrel Beem, a retail shoe salesman. Career Her training in art is unknown but she did exhibit three watercolor illustrations at The Twentieth Annual Exhibition of the Arts Students’ League December 12–29, 1912 in Chicago. Frances Beem is listed in the catalogue of the Seventh Annual Exhibition by the Chicago Society of Miniature Painters that was held at the Art Institute of Chicago, February 13- March 30, 1919. Rich Beem
Richard Michael Beem (born August 24, 1970) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and is best known for his upset victory at the 2002 PGA Championship. Beem was born in Phoenix, Arizona, grew up in El Paso, Texas, and played college golf at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. Beem turned professional in 1994. His early career was broken up by a spell in Seattle selling car stereos and cell phones. He later regained interest after J. P.
