Bedari
''Bedari'', a Pakistani Urdu black and white film, was a classic melodious film of 1956. This film had an identical plot and the songs like Indian film Jagriti (1954), with replacement of some words, and music was taken directly from Jagriti as well. Actor Rattan Kumar (Syed Nazir Ali), who had moved from India to Pakistan with his family, played a lead role in this film. When 'Bedari' was released in Pakistan in 1956, it made fabulous business in the first few weeks of exhibition. However, when it was discovered by the Pakistani cinemagoers that they were watching a plagiarized film. There was a mass uproar that caused public demonstrations against exhibition of the plagiarized film. The Censor Board of Pakistan immediately put a ban on this film. Ratan Kumar (actor)
Ratan Kumar (19 March 1941 – 12 December 2016) was the screen name of the Indian born child artist who later migrated to Pakistan. He acted in Indian & Pakistani movies. He was born as Syed Nazir Ali Rizvi. He is best known for his work in films '' Boot Polish'' (1954), ''Do Bigha Zamin'' (1953) and ''Jagriti'' (1954). Early life and career Ratan Kumar was born as Syed Nazir Ali in 1941 in British India. He became the most-sought-after child-actor in India in the 1950s after his initial success in 1952. Syed Musa Raza
Syed Musa Abbas Raza, ( ur, ; 25 December 1925 – 11 June 1982) better known as Santosh Kumar ( ur, ), was a Pakistani film actor who was popular in the 1950s and 1960s. He was from an Urdu-speaking family from Lahore, Pakistan. His brother Darpan was also a film actor during the same period, while his other brother S. Suleman was a film director. Early life and career Santosh Kumar's birth name was Syed Musa Raza. He was born in 1925 in Lahore, British India. He graduated from Osmania University, Hyderabad, British India. After the Partition of India in 1947, Santosh Kumar migrated to Lahore, Pakistan with his family. Owing to his education and awareness, Santosh Kumar was always designated to lead the entourage to represent Pakistan in meetings held abroad, and because of this became known as the foreign minister of the Pakistani film industry. Fayyaz Hashmi
Fayyaz Hashmi ( ur, ; 1920 2011) was a Pakistani poet and screenwriter who worked both in the Cinema of India, Indian and Cinema of Pakistan, Pakistani film industry. He penned some memorable songs such as the famous nazm Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo and ''Tasveer teri dil mera behela nah sakegi''. The latter made the singer Talat Mahmood famous in India back in 1944 and was instrumental in introducing him to the Calcutta film industry. A little known fact about him is that he wrote the famous 'Na tum mere na dil mera', that was sung by Kamla Jharia, among many others. Saleem Raza (singer)
Noel Dias (4 March 1932 – 25 November 1983), better known as Saleem Raza ( ur, ), was a Pakistani playback singer. He started his singing career from Lahore, Pakistan and quickly gained popularity. Raza was a classically- trained singer and was more famous for singing sad songs. Raza's career suffered due to the rise of singer Ahmed Rushdi in the late 1950s. He left playback singing in 1966 as he lost his popularity with the film composers and moved to Canada where he died in 1983. Career Saleem Raza was born Noel Dias in a Christian family. After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, he migrated to Pakistan and settled in Lahore. He first sang for Lahore Radio Station. Raza also made friends with an artist of the time, Mohni Hameed. Meena Shorey
Meena Shorey (13 November 1921 – 3 September 1989) was a Pakistani film actress who worked first in Indian cinema and later Pakistani cinema. She appeared in Hindi/Urdu and Punjabi films. Credited in films by her mononym, Meena, her real name was Khurshid Jehan. She started her acting career playing a character role, as Ambhi, Raja of Taxila's sister in Sohrab Modi's '' Sikandar'' (1941). Married to her third husband, Roop K. Shorey, by the mid-1940s, she found fame when she acted in her husband's film '' Ek Thi Larki'' (1949), opposite actor Motilal. The story was written by I. S. Johar, who also starred in the film. Wajid Qazi ( ur, ) (26 May 1930– 11 February 2018) was a Pakistani actor.
