	Beckley, East Sussex Beckley is a village and civil parish in the Rother district of East Sussex, England. It is located on the B2088 minor road above the Rother Levels five miles (8 km) northwest of Rye and ten miles (16 km) from Hastings. The northern border follows the river Rother. History Beckley was part of the Wealden iron industry. An iron furnace was built in 1578, at the small settlement still called Beckley Furnace. A watermill powered the bellows. Production ceased in 1770. The 1830s saw a mass emigration of Beckley residents to New South Wales. At the time, the developing colony of New South Wales was in need of skilled agricultural labourers, whilst the English labourers were suffering hard times. Various schemes were introduced to provide finance for workers to emigrate. 165 Beckley residents took up the offer and emigrated. 	Beckley, Hampshire Beckley is a hamlet in Hampshire, England. It lies in the civil parish of Bransgore. Beckley is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, when it was held by "Nigel the doctor" from Earl Roger of Shrewsbury. Before 1066 it was held by Holmger. The manor was known as Bichelei in 1086, and Beckele in 1294. picture info	Beckley, Oxfordshire Beckley is a village in Oxfordshire about northeast of the centre of Oxford. Beckley is part of the civil parish of Beckley and Stowood. The 2011 Census recorded the parish's population as 608. The village is above sea level on the northern brow of a hill overlooking Otmoor. The hill is the highest part of the parish, rising to south of the village near Stow Wood. On the eastern brow of the hill is Oxford transmitting station, a television relay mast that is a local landmark. Archaeology The course of the former Roman road that linked Dorchester on Thames with Alchester passes through the village. Part of it is now a bridleway. In the 19th century the remains of a Roman villa were found beside the road to Upper Park Farm east of the village. Artefacts from the villa are held in the Ashmolean Museum. picture info	Beckley Park Beckley Park is an English country house located near the village of Beckley, in Oxfordshire, England. It was built in 1540 by Lord Williams of Thame, who also built a great house at Rycote, a few miles away. It was originally built as a lodge for use when the lord and a party hunted the great park. Today it is the home of Amanda Feilding and the main headquarters of her Beckley Foundation which is doing research on the benefits of certain types of drugs, including cannabis and LSD. Feilding is married to James Charteris, 13th Earl of Wemyss, who is the owner of Stanway House in Gloucestershire and Gosford House in Scotland. The Tudor brick edifice of the house is encircled by three moats which attest to the place's importance in former days.
