"Beat Boy" is a 1984 song by the British pop band Visage, released as a single in November 1984. The track was taken as the second single from Visage's third album, ''Beat Boy'', and became the band's last single before they split up in 1985. The single was a commercial failure and did not chart. Music video The music video was directed by Jean-Claude Luyat and shot in Africa, as a part of a full-length video incorporating songs from ''The Anvil'' and ''Beat Boy''. Visage (band)
Visage were a British synthpop band, formed in London in 1978. The band became closely linked to the burgeoning New Romantic fashion movement of the early 1980s, and are best known for their hit " Fade to Grey" which was released in late 1980. In the UK, the band achieved two Top 20 albums ('' Visage'' and '' The Anvil'') and five Top 30 singles before the commercial failure of their third album (''Beat Boy'') led to their break-up in 1985. The band has seen various line-up changes over the years, all fronted by vocalist Steve Strange, who resurrected the band name in the 2000s. In 2013, the most recent line-up of the band released ''Hearts and Knives'', the first new Visage album in 29 years. ''Hearts and Knives'' is the fourth studio album by the British rock/pop band Visage. It was released on 20 May 2013 and was the band's first album of new material in 29 years. Background In January 2013, Visage announced their new line-up to consist of vocalist and founding member Steve Strange, bassist Steve Barnacle (who had worked with the band on their 1984 album ''Beat Boy''), Robin Simon (former guitarist in Ultravox and Magazine) and Lauren Duvall on vocals. The band's official website confirmed that former Visage/Magazine keyboardist Dave Formula and former Simple Minds keyboardist Mick MacNeil have also contributed to the album. ''Visage'' is a compilation video by the British band Visage, released in August 1985. Background The compilation collects most of the music videos from the band's career between 1980–84, including songs from their first three studio albums. The first part of the video consists of music clips directed by Godley & Creme, Midge Ure, Tim Pope and Jean-Claude Luyat interspersed with interludes filmed by Luyat. The footage from "Can You Hear Me" onwards is film material shot by Luyat in Egypt, which includes tracks from '' The Anvil'' and ''Beat Boy''. This includes footage shot for the song "Love Glove", though the original promo video for the song (directed by Nick Morris in a late night London Docklands setting) is not included. Steve Strange announced the release of the video in 1985 in an interview for a German television show, saying that it was going to be "a documentary on the history of Visage". The ethnic groups of Africa number in the thousands, with each population generally having its own language (or dialect of a language) and culture. The ethnolinguistic groups include various Afroasiatic, Khoisan, Niger-Congo, and Nilo-Saharan populations. The official population count of the various ethnic groups in Africa is highly uncertain, both due to limited infrastructure to perform censuses and due to the rapid population growth. There have also been accusations of deliberate misreporting in order to give selected ethnicities numerical superiority (as in the case of Nigeria's Hausa, Fulani, Yoruba, and Igbo peoples). A 2009 genetic clustering study, which genotyped 1327 polymorphic markers in various African populations, identified six ancestral clusters. "Love Glove" is a single by the British pop group Visage, released on Polydor Records in August 1984. It was the first single to be released from Visage's third album, ''Beat Boy'', and peaked at #54 on the UK Singles Chart. Music video Two music videos for "Love Glove" exist. One version is the clip shot in Egypt by Jean-Claude Luyat, as a part of a full-length video incorporating songs from ''The Anvil'' and ''Beat Boy''. It features Egyptian pyramids and Steve Strange riding a camel across the desert as well as singing on a yacht. This version was later included on the '' Visage'' video album in 1986. Another version was shot by Nick Morris in London's Docklands in August 1984. In this version, Steve Strange appears in his ''Beat Boy'' album cover make up. Beat Boy
''Beat Boy'' is the third studio album by the British new wave band Visage. It was recorded at Trident Studios between 1982 and 1983 and released on Polydor Records in October 1984 (delayed by contractual problems the band were having at that time). Reaching No. 79 on the UK album chart, the album was poorly received by critics and would be the band's last studio album for almost thirty years. Background The album was recorded and released after lead singer Steve Strange decided to make Visage a live band instead of being solely a studio-based project, a decision that left him working only with drummer Rusty Egan and a trio of newer musicians. Billy Currie (the Ultravox keyboardist who had been part of Visage for their first two albums) left the band soon after recording commenced, though co-wrote and played on the track "Only The Good Die Young". Dave Formula (born David Tomlinson 11 August 1946, Whalley Range, Manchester, England), is an English keyboardist and film-soundtrack composer from Manchester, who played with the post-punk bands Magazine and Visage during the end of the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s and in the "world music" band The Angel Brothers.
