Beat-Herder
Beat-Herder is an annual summer music festival held at Dockber Farm near Sawley, Lancashire, which has been running since 2006. The festival covers several musical genres including breakbeat, dub, reggae, dubstep, techno, house, drum and bass, folk, dance-punk and psychedelic rock. The event also sees regular appearances from novelty musicians such as the Lancashire Hotpots and William Fairey Acid Brass. Bushrocker HI FI regularly host the reggae arena. In 2006 when it started it was nothing but a small rave in the trees organised by a small group of friends but since then it has grown massively attracting a wide range of audiences with its large variety of acts. Acts appearing at the 2013 event included Chic (featuring Nile Rodgers), Jimmy Cliff and Bentley Rhythm Ace. In 2014 Happy Mondays were the headline act on the closing night. The Lancashire Hotpots
The Lancashire Hotpots are a comedy folk band from St Helens, (historically part of Lancashire), England, formed in 2006. The group perform and record songs about Lancashire, technology and British culture, such as "He's Turned Emo", "Chippy Tea" and "eBay Eck". The group's songs make use of Lancashire dialect. Their first single, "He's Turned Emo", gained over 230,000 plays on MySpace in March 2008, and was featured on BBC Radio One by Colin Murray. Their debut album, ''Never Mind The Hotpots'', was a minor hit, becoming the number one comedy album on iTunes in UK, and number two in the BBC Radio 6 Music Album Charts. The current members are Bernard Thresher (vocals, guitar, ukulele, drums), Dickie Ticker (bell tree, mandolin, melodica, hand percussion), Bob Wriggles (bass guitar, synth bass), Billy McCartney (keyboards) Kenny Body (drums), and Ron Seal (lead guitar). Sawley, Lancashire
Sawley is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Ribble Valley in Lancashire, England. The population of the civil parish was 305 at the 2001 Census, rising to 345 at the 2011 census. It is situated north-east of Clitheroe, on the River Ribble. It was historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. The parish adjoins the Ribble Valley parishes of Bolton-by-Bowland, Paythorne, Gisburn, Rimington, Downham, Chatburn and Grindleton. Breakbeat is a broad type of electronic music that tends to use drum breaks sampled from early recordings of funk, jazz, and R&B. Breakbeats have been used in styles such as hip hop, jungle, drum and bass, big beat, breakbeat hardcore, and UK garage styles (including 2-step, breakstep and dubstep). Chic ( ), currently called Nile Rodgers & Chic, is an American band that was formed in 1972 by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards.
