Beastars
''Beastars'' (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki. It was serialized in Akita Shoten's ''Weekly Shōnen Champion'' from September 2016 to October 2020, with its chapters collected in 22 ''tankōbon'' volumes. The manga is licensed for English release in North America by Viz Media. The story takes place in a modern world of civilized, Anthropomorphism, anthropomorphic animals with a cultural divide between carnivores and herbivores, and where eating meat (which always cannibalism, comes from other anthropomorphic animals) is strictly illegal. The series takes its name from the in-universe title of Beastar, an individual of great talent, service, and notoriety. Legoshi
is the protagonist of Paru Itagaki's manga series ''Beastars''. In a world of modern, civilized, anthropomorphic animals with a cultural divide between carnivores and herbivores, Legoshi is a high school student and gray wolf working with his red deer classmate Louis on settling tensions in the club at school. When meeting a rabbit called Haru, Legoshi becomes instantly in love with her and goes across the narrative dealing with the dilemma of a carnivore having a romantic relationship with a rabbit while also exploring a scent that made him nearly want to devour her. In the anime adaptation of the manga, Legoshi was voiced by Chikahiro Kobayashi in Japanese and Jonah Scott in English. Legoshi has been a popular character in manga and anime. Paru Itagaki
is a Japanese manga artist. She is best known as the creator of the manga series ''Beastars'', for which she has won the 2018 Manga Taishō, a Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, a Kodansha Manga Award, and a Japan Media Arts Festival Award. She is the daughter of manga artist Keisuke Itagaki. Biography Itagaki began painting in kindergarten, and started drawing manga in the second grade. As a teenager she developed the character Legoshi, an anthropomorphic wolf who would later appear in her manga series ''Beastars''. Satoru Kōsaki
is a Japanese music composer and arranger. He is best known for his work on anime, including '' Lucky Star'', ''The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya'', ''Monogatari'' and ''Beastars''. He worked at Namco, where he primarily composed soundtracks for video games. Kodansha Manga Award
is an annual award for serialized manga published in the previous year, the event is sponsored by the publisher Kodansha. It is currently awarded in three categories: '' shōnen'', '' shōjo'', and general. The awards began in 1977, initially with categories for ''shōnen'' and ''shōjo''. The first award for the general category was in 1982, and the first children's category's award was in 2003. The children's category was merged into the ''shōnen'' and ''shōjo'' categories starting in 2015. The is a Japanese comics award recognizing achievement in manga. It is awarded annually to a manga series published in the previous calendar year of eight or fewer collected volumes in length. The Manga Taishō was founded with the aim of recognizing new and relatively unestablished manga, and to provide a platform to promote these works to new readers. To this end, the prize utilizes a judging criteria of recognizing manga one would "want to recommend to friends", rather than a strictly meritocratic evaluation of artistic excellence.
