Beal, Northumberland
Beal is a village in Northumberland, in England. It is situated a short distance inland from the North Sea coast, and lies on the link road between the A1 and Lindisfarne. The East Coast Main Line runs to the west of the village but the station was closed in the 1960s. Beal is a village and civil parish in the District of Selby in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the River Aire, north-east of Knottingley, south-west of Selby, and south of York. The parish includes the village of Kellingley, and borders the City of Wakefield in West Yorkshire. At the 2001 census it had a population of 720, increasing to 738 at the 2011 census. Overview The name "Beal" is of Old English origins and means "Nook of land in a river-bend". It is composed of the elements ''bēag'' ("river-bend") and ''halh'' ("nook of land"). Beal City is an unincorporated community in Isabella County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a census-designated place (CDP) for statistical purposes, although Beal City is not an incorporated municipality and holds no legal autonomy. The population was 357 at the 2010 census. Beal Aerospace was a launch vehicle development company founded in February 1997 by Andrew Beal, president of Beal Bank in Dallas, Texas. Headquartered in Frisco, Texas, the goal of the company was to build and operate a privately developed heavy lift orbital launch vehicle. It ceased operations on October 23, 2000. History The institution was first established as the Bangor Business School by Mary E. Beal and several partners on October 23rd, 1891. In the first year of operation, the Bangor Business School was attended by less than 25 students, and housed on the second floor of the YMCA. The Beal is a small river in Greater Manchester, England, and is a tributary of the River Roch. It rises in the Beal Valley in green space between Sholver and Royton, before continuing northwards through Shaw and Crompton, Newhey, Milnrow and Belfield. Course From its source at Beal Valley, it flows north through Shaw and Crompton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, where Old Brook and Pencil Brook are tributaries.
