Beach Fossils
Beach Fossils is an American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2009. They are currently signed to Bayonet Records, having previously been signed to indie label Captured Tracks. The group's live band currently includes founder Dustin Payseur (vocals, guitar), Jack Doyle Smith (bass), Tommy Davidson (guitar), and Anton Hochheim (drums). They are known for their lo-fi, atmospheric sound, confessional and nostalgic lyrics, and Payseur's laid back vocal style. Payseur originally conceived the project in late 2008 when he moved to New York City after leaving school in his home state of North Carolina. To date they have released three studio albums, including their eponymous debut album (2010), ''Clash the Truth'' (2013), and ''Somersault'' (2017), and one EP titled ''What A Pleasure'' (2011). Columbus Theatre (Providence, Rhode Island)
The Columbus Theatre is a movie theater and concert venue in Providence, Rhode Island. The theater is located at 270 Broadway in the city's Broadway–Armory Historic District. History The building was designed by architect Oreste DiSaia and built by realtor Domenic Annotti in 1926. DiSaia designed it to be “outdated”. Art Deco was the fashion of the time but he designed it as “a 19th-century Italianate palace.” When opened, the theater featured vaudeville and silent films before it was leased by RKO Albee Theater. It was considered “one of Providence’s premier cinemas for the next 25 years.”. In 1929, it was renamed the Uptown Theatre. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. MacBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco (born Vernor Winfield MacBriare Smith IV; April 30, 1990) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. What A Pleasure (EP)
''What a Pleasure'' is the first EP from American indie rock band Beach Fossils released on March 8, 2011, through Captured Tracks. The EP was produced by lead vocalist and primary songwriter Dustin Payseur. Background and recording Following the release of their eponymous debut album in 2010 to critical acclaim, Beach Fossils continued to tour extensively. While on tour the band would frequently play extremely high-energy and fast performances. This eventually proved to be physically exhausting, so their forthcoming project would contain much slower tempos. ''Somersault'' is the third studio album by American indie rock band Beach Fossils, released on June 2, 2017, and produced by frontman Dustin Payseur and Jonathan Rado. It was the first Beach Fossils album released through Payseur's own label, Bayonet Records, which he started in 2015 with his wife and former label manager of Captured Tracks Katie Garcia. ''Somersault'' produced five singles that are considered to be among the band's best-known songs, which include "This Year", "Saint Ivy", "Down The Line", "Tangerine", and "Social Jetlag". Clash The Truth
''Clash the Truth'' is the second studio album by American indie rock band Beach Fossils. The album was produced by Ben Greenberg (formerly of The Men) as well as band frontman and primary songwriter Dustin Payseur. It was released on February 19, 2013, through Captured Tracks. Recording Dustin Payseur wrote and recorded a demo of the entire album in his apartment in New York before recording it professionally in a studio. The recording of ''Clash the Truth'' was finished at the Excello Recording studio in the fall of 2012. Recording was briefly interrupted when Payseur's studio was flooded during Hurricane Sandy. ''Clash the Truth'' featured new drummer Tommy Gardner, who allowed for a faster, more energetic sound than in previous releases.
