Be2gether
Be2gether or B2G was the largest annual music and arts festival in Baltic countries. Established in 2007, it took place in Norviliškės, Lithuania, just a few meters from the border with Belarus. In 2007, attendance was estimated at around 7,000–8,000 people, with an increase to 12,000 in 2008. Background Be2gether was created with the slogan ''"Music Opens Borders''", to emphasise the importance of connection despite any differences in culture, nationality, age or social position. To underscore this goal, the festival is held in the so-called Dieveniškės panhandle: Lithuanian territory surrounded by Belarus on three sides. The area is remote and is difficult to reach, due to Lithuania being a member of the European Union and Belarus not. Norviliškės
Norviliškės ( pl, Narwiliszki, be, Норвілішкес or ) is a small village in the so-called Dieveniškės appendix, Šalčininkai district municipality, Lithuania. It is located about northeast of the town of Dieveniškės near the border with Belarus. In 1986 it had 58 residents, and 20 residents in 2011. The Norviliškės Manor is first mentioned in 1586. In 1617 the owners ceded part of the land to the Franciscans monks. Around 1745 the Franciscans built a monastery and a church in Renaissance style. The monastery was reconstructed at the end of the 18th century by Kazimierz Kaminski. For a long time the castle stood abandoned. In 2005, reconstruction was started by an entrepreneur Giedrius Klimkevičius from Vilnius. Since being renovated it is now used to host business conferences or weddings, hunting, shooting practices, and other activities. Joana And The Wolf
Joana and the Wolf was a London-based alternative new wave rock band, formed in 2005. Musical influences included Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, The Stooges, and Björk. Formation and members The band was made up of lead singer and songwriter Joana Glaza (Joana Mikalauskaitė, who has a degree from the University of Vilnius), guitarist Ali, bassist Katie and drummer Louis. Joana is originally from Lithuania, and has always sung in English since she was a child; the rest of the band are English. The band formed in summer 2005 after Joana and Ali met through an advert on Loot. Ali originally suggested the name "Joana and the Bitches" as a joke, and Joana changed it to "Wolf" partly due to the use of the wolf in Lithuanian symbolism. The band found new management in 2010, and changed their sound, taking influences from Eastern European folk and classical music. Norviliškės Castle
Norviliškės Castle (a former monastery, also called Norviliškės Manor) is a Renaissance style castle in Norviliškės, Lithuania. The Norviliškės Castle is first mentioned in 1586. In 1617 the owners donated part of the real estate land to Franciscans. Around 1745 they built a monastery and a church in Renaissance style. The monastery was reconstructed at the end of the 18th century by Kazimieras Kaminskis. After the November Uprising of 1831, Russian authorities closed the monastery and turned it into barracks for soldiers, and later to a boarding school for girls. The Church of St. Mary Compassionate Mother was closed at the same time as the monastery. A new wooden church was built in 1929. For a long time the former manor stood abandoned. The group consists of Marko Saaresto (lead vocals), Olli Tukiainen (lead guitar), Markus "Captain" Kaarlonen (keyboards, production), Jani Snellman (bass), Jaska Mäkinen (rhythm guitar), and Jari Salminen (drums, percussion). Tribes of the City is a shoegaze, dreampop band from Riga, Latvia. The band was formed in 2003 and has recorded four full-length albums. Zion Train
Zion Train are a British dub ensemble that formed in Oxford, 1988. They have consistently released music and toured from 1992 to present day. Their mix of reggae and dance music was a notable innovation in the early 1990s. History Co-founder Neil Perch is an autodidact, he taught himself music production and composition after completing a master's degree in biochemistry in the mid eighties. Datarock
Datarock is a Norwegian electronic rock band. The band, known for wearing red jumpsuits, formed in 2000. Original personnel were Fredrik Saroea, Ketil Mosnes and Kevin O'Brien, who soon hired Tom Mæland. O'Brien and Mæland later left the band, but the duo of Saroea and Mosnes continued the project. Their name is derived from the Norwegian word for computer – ''datamaskin'' and the word ''rock'' (meaning rock music made on a computer). Andrius Mamontovas (born 23 August 1967) is a Lithuanian rock musician. He is also a songwriter, actor, performer and record producer. He was one of the co-founders of the Lithuanian rock band Foje and the initiator of the LT United project. Personal life His father was Russian and mother Lithuanian. Since 1993, he has been a vegetarian. Career In 1983, Andrius Mamontovas began his musical quest by forming Foje, one of the most popular bands in Lithuania. The Young Knives
Young Knives are an English indie rock band from Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire. The name is based on a misunderstanding of "young knaves", which was found by the band when rummaging through a book. The band was originally named Simple Pastoral Existence, but this name only lasted until they split for a few years from 1997 to 1999, at which time they renamed themselves Ponyclub. The name "Ponyclub" was changed when they got their first record deal because there was already an artist in existence named "Pony Club". This is when the name "The Young Knives" was coined.
