Cyprus Turkish Football Federation
The Cyprus Turkish Football Association ( tr, Kıbrıs Türk Futbol Federasyonu, KTFF) is the governing body of football in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Established on 29 October 1955, during British colonial rule in Cyprus, it was affiliated with the N.F.-Board from 2003 until the board's dissolution in 2013. Since 2013 the KTFF has been affiliated with the Confederation of Independent Football Associations. League system Süper Lig is the top division of the TRNC Football Federation. The CTFA currently oversee the provision of 4 professional football leagues in the TRNC. The pyramid consists of the Süper Lig, 1. Lig, BTM 1. Lig and BTM 2. Lig (top division to lowest division). Northern Cyprus ( tr, Kuzey Kıbrıs), officially the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC; tr, Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti, ''KKTC''), is a ''de facto'' state that comprises the northeastern portion of the island of Cyprus. Recognised only by Turkey, Northern Cyprus is considered by the international community to be part of the Republic of Cyprus. The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) is an international organization dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. Doğan Türk Birliği
Doğan Türk Birliği is a sports club based in Girne, Northern Cyprus and first established in 1938 in Limassol. History Its colours are yellow and navy. They were champions in the Birinci Lig competition on six occasions. They are now part of Birinci Lig. The club won six times the Birinci Lig and respectively one time the Kibris Kupasi (1978) and the Federasyon Kupasi (2012). In the years 1956, 1957, 1985 and 1988 lost the final of the Kibris Kupasi. The club also lost 1989 and 1990 the finals of the Federasyon Kupasi. DTB lost four-time the final of the Cumhurbaskanligi Kupasi (President's Cup) and won this championship never. Gönyeli ( el, Κιόνελι, Kioneli; tr, Gönyeli) is a town in Cyprus, near the capital city Nicosia. It is ''de facto'' under the control of Northern Cyprus. Over the years the town has merged with North Nicosia, making it connurbated with the city. Its population is 11,671. History Before the Ottoman conquest of Cyprus in 1571, the area consisted of empty fields. Upon the conquest, two families from Anatolia settled and founded Gönyeli, that of Kurt Ali from Anamur and Mehmet Efendi from Aksaray. Over time, as the families grew in population, the village grew as a farming community speaking Turkish. Culture The football club Gönyeli Spor Kulübü is based in Gönyeli.
