Bağıştaş 1 Dam
The Bağıştaş 1 Dam is an embankment dam on the Karasu River near Bağıştaş in İliç district of Erzincan Province, eastern Turkey. The primary purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and it supports a 140.4 MW power station. Construction began in 2011 and the generators were commissioned in 2015. İliç
İliç is a town and district of Erzincan Province in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. It covers an area of 1,397 km² and the elevation is 1,060 m. The district has a population of 6,349 of which 2,503 live in the town of İliç (2010). The mayor is Muhlis Doğan ( MHP). Erzincan Province
Erzincan Province ( tr, ; ku, Parezgêha Erzînganê) is a province in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. In Turkey, its capital is also called Erzincan. The population was 236,034 in 2018. Karasu (Euphrates)
The Karasu (Turkish for 'black water') or Western Euphrates is a long river in eastern Turkey, one of the two sources of the Euphrates. It has a length of about 450 km. To the ancient Greeks the river was known as the (''Telebóas''). Course The river rises on the Dumlu Dağ in Erzurum Province, and drains the plains around the city of Erzurum. It is joined by the Serçeme River, then flows west through Erzincan Province, turning south, then west and receiving the tributary Tuzla Su. An embankment dam is a large artificial dam. It is typically created by the placement and compaction of a complex semi-plastic mound of various compositions of soil or rock. The Bağıştaş 1 Dam is a gravity dam on the Karasu River near İliç in Erzincan Province, eastern Turkey. The primary purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and it supports a 48.6 MW power station. Construction began in 2010 and the generators were commissioned in 2012 and 2013.
