Bazaly
The Bazaly stadium is a football stadium in Ostrava, Czech Republic. It lays in Slezská Ostrava, the Silesian part of the city, next to the Ostravice River. The first match was played there on 19 April 1959, it functioned as the home stadium of FC Baník Ostrava until the end of the 2014–15 Czech First League season. The stadium was reconstructed in 2003 (added new seats, new V.I.P. rooms, cloak-rooms and press center). The cost was about 30 mil. CZK, cca. 1mil. EUR), and the pitch was replaced in 2004. In June 2014 a new capacity of 10,039 was announced for the forthcoming season. The stadium was closed in 2015, and Baník Ostrava went on to play at Městský stadion instead. Heavy metal band Iron Maiden played at the stadium for a 38,000 capacity crowd on 6 June 2007. It was the biggest rock concert in Ostrava. FC Baník Ostrava
FC Baník Ostrava is a football club from the Silesian part of the city of Ostrava, Czech Republic. Founded in 1922 as ''SK Slezská Ostrava'', Baník has won numerous national and international trophies. History Formation and history to 1937 The club was founded on 8 September 1922 as ''SK Slezská Ostrava'', when 20 activists signed the establishment treaty in the ''U Dubu'' restaurant. The signatories were mostly poor coal miners from the Kamenec coal mining settlement in Ostrava. The founders were Karel Aniol, Arnošt Haberkiewicz, Petr Křižák, František Mruzek and Jaroslav Horák. SK Slezská Ostrava was a poor club, raising money for the functioning of the club was a common concern. It didn't have its own playing field and was forced to loan fields from wealthier clubs. Patrik Berger
Patrik Berger (; born 10 November 1973) is a Czech former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He started his career in his own country with Slavia Prague and spent a season in Germany playing for Borussia Dortmund. He moved to England in 1996, where he spent seven years with Liverpool, winning four trophies in his time there. This was followed by spells at Portsmouth, Aston Villa and Stoke City. He spent the last two years of his career back in his native Czech Republic playing for Sparta Prague. Internationally, Berger played in two major tournaments for the Czech Republic. Kristian Laferla
Kris Laferla (born 23 March 1967) is a former Maltese footballer who played as a midfielder during his career. Club career At the age of 16, Laferla got his senior team debut for St. Andrew's on 12 December 1983 in a 0–0 draw against Birżebbuġa St. Peter's. Following his exploits in the Third Division, Laferla joined Premier League side Valletta on loan for the 1985–86 season. He made his debut against Żurrieq on 1 September 1985, and his first goal arrived from the penalty spot in the match against Tarxien Rainbows on 6 September 1986. After joining permanently, he soon became a regular figure with Valletta, even becoming club captain. With the ''Citizens'', Laferla won 25 honours, including six in the 2000–01 season, making him one of the most decorated players in Maltese football. The 2014–15 Czech First League, known as the Synot liga for sponsorship reasons, was the 22nd season of the Czech Republic's top-tier football league and the first since it was renamed from the Gambrinus liga to the Synot liga due to a change in sponsor. Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. Arminas Narbekovas (born 28 January 1965 in Gargždai) is a former Lithuanian football player. In 2003, he was selected by UEFA as his country's Golden Player, the greatest player of the past 50 years. Personal life Arminas Narbekovas was born to a Tatar father Andrey Narbekov and a Lithuanian mother. Career Narbekovas made his debut in 1983 with Žalgiris Vilnius, Lithuania's sole representative in the Soviet Top League, at the age of 18. In 1987, he finished second in league scoring with 16 goals while leading his club to a third-place finish, their best in history. Zalgiris would then participate in the UEFA Cup for the first time, losing to Austria Vienna. Austria would become Narbekovas' destination after Lithuanian players were allowed to move abroad. Marek Poštulka
Marek Poštulka (born 21 June 1970) is a Czech former football player. He played international football for Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. Poštulka scored two goals in two games for ''Representation of Czechs and Slovaks'' (RCS, a temporary title after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia) and one goal in two appearances for the Czech Republic. He played more than 100 games for Baník Ostrava. Poštulka seriously injured his knee for the third time in March 1996 while playing for the Czech Republic against Turkey. The injury caused him to miss out on selection for UEFA Euro 1996. He underwent a total of ten operations on his knees but they eventually brought about his premature retirement from football. UEFA Euro 1996 Qualifying
Qualifying for UEFA Euro 1996 took place throughout 1994 and 1995. Forty-seven teams were divided into eight groups, with each team playing the others in their group both home and away. The winners of each group and the six best runners-up qualified automatically, while the two worst runners-up were involved in a play-off at a neutral venue. England qualified automatically as hosts of the event. This was the first European Championship qualifying phase in which three points were awarded for each win, as opposed to the two points that had been awarded previously.
