Bayswater, Nova Scotia
Bayswater is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Chester Municipal District on the Aspotogan Peninsula in Lunenburg County on the Lighthouse Route (Nova Scotia Route 329). The community is home to Bayswater Beach Provincial park, Swissair 111 memorial, and All Saints Anglican Church History German settlers who first settled were Richard and Knickle who came from Lunenburg. Settled prior to 1767. An early immigrant to Bayswater was James Boutilier from Montbéliard, eastern France. He had nine children; the first was born in Bayswater in 1862. The village is probably named after Bayswater in England, an area of west London in the City of Westminster. Chester, Nova Scotia
Chester is a village on the Chester Peninsula, Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada. The nearby waters of Mahone Bay and its numerous islands are well known for yachting and have made the Chester Yacht Club into a cruising destination. A provincial ferry from the village provides a schedule of daily trips to Big Tancook Island and Little Tancook Island. History The French had been present in Acadia since the early 1600s, but when the British expanded into the area in the 1700s, Acadian settlements on the South Shore were few and tiny. After the Expulsion of the Acadians the British wanted to repopulate vacated lands, and offered land grants to colonists from New England, which was experiencing a population explosion. Blandford, Nova Scotia
Blandford is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Chester Municipal District on the Aspotogan Peninsula on the Lighthouse Route (Nova Scotia Route 329). Blandford originally included the present day communities of New Harbour, Upper Blandford, and Deep Cove. History Origins Between 1767-1769, the English from the west country settled Blandford, naming the community after Blandford Forum. One of the first settlers of Blandford was George Casper Zinck (c.1764 - ), the son of a German-speaking immigrant. George first lived in Lunenburg and then after the American Raid on Lunenburg (1782) during the American Revolution, George moved to nearby Rose Bay before finally settling in Blandford at the age of 20 (1784). Little Tancook Island is a Canadian island located off the coast of Nova Scotia. The island is one of the 365 islands dotting Mahone Bay. The island is long by wide and is roughly triangular in shape. It is separated from Big Tancook Island by the wide strait called "The Chops." It is located approximately off the Aspotogan Peninsula. Big Tancook Island
Big Tancook Island is the largest of many islands in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. It measures approximately (north to south) by forming roughly a "C" shape. Its area is and has a rocky shoreline with open fields and softwood forest dotted by ponds, residential properties and fish stores. It is separated from nearby Little Tancook Island to the east by a wide strait called "The Chops". Big Tancook Island is approximately from Sandy Cove Point on the Aspotogan Peninsula - the nearest point on the mainland.
