Bayside High School (Palm Bay, Florida)
Bayside High School is a public high school located in Palm Bay, Florida, United States. It is part of the Brevard County School District. History Bayside was opened in August 1998 with grades 9 and 10. Grade 11 was added in 1999, grade 12 in 2000. The first graduation was held in May 2001. Upon its construction, Bayside was the first new high school campus built in the Brevard County School District in more than a quarter century—since Astronaut High School in Titusville opened in 1972. On May 12, 2008, the school was evacuated, threatened by a citywide fire. The school was closed the following day along with other schools in the Palm Bay area. Campus The school is based on a design by Schenkel Shultz and its layout is shared by Winter Springs High School. The final estimated cost was just over $10 million. Palm Bay is a city in Brevard County, Florida, United States. The city's population was 119,760 at th2020 United States Census making it the most populous city in the county and the largest by land mass. The historic section of the city lies on the mouth of the Turkey Creek and the Palm Bay. Palm Bay has historically expanded south and to the west. The newer section is mostly situated west of Interstate 95 and south of the Tillman Canal. Deon Broomfield
Deon Broomfield (born August 3, 1991) is a former American football safety and is currently a Safeties coach for Iowa State. He played college football at Iowa State. High school Broomfield attended Bayside High School in Palm Bay, Florida. As a sophomore, Broomfield helped the Bayside Bears to a 7–3 record and a trip to the playoffs. That year, he was named to the second-team all-district. As a junior, Broomfield recorded 85 tackles, three interceptions, and three fumble recoveries, making the Class 5A second-team all-state. In his senior season, Deon had nine interceptions, caused six fumbles (of which he recovered three), and led his team to the second round of the playoffs, finishing the season at 8–4. He again made the Class 5A second-team all-state, as well as making the first-team all-state coast. Christopher Lee Heston (born April 10, 1988) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played college baseball for East Carolina University and played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Francisco Giants, the Seattle Mariners and the Minnesota Twins. William John Horschel (born December 7, 1986) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour. Early years and amateur career Horschel was born and raised in Grant, Florida. Palm Bay Magnet High School is a public high school located in Melbourne, Florida, north of the boundary of Palm Bay, Florida. It is part of the Brevard County School District. History The school originally opened as Southwest Junior High School in 1960, in an area near what is now the Florida Institute of Technology and a historically black neighborhood in the south Melbourne area. At the time, Stone Middle School was serving as a school primarily for black students in the area, serving multiple grades.
