Mario Landi
Mario Landi (12 October 1920 – 18 March 1992) was an Italian director known for his giallo movies such as ''Giallo a Venezia'' and his television series ''Le inchieste del commissario Maigret''. Life and career Born in Messina, Sicily, Landi attended the National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome, graduating in direction in 1944. He began his career in theater, working with the best actors of his time, in particular being one of the most active protagonists of the "Diogene" cultural circle in Milan, a reference point for the Italian theater in the 1950s. Mariangela Giordano (2 September 1937 – 16 July 2011) was an Italian film and television actress. Life and career Born in Dolcedo, Imperia, Italy as Maria Angela Giordano, the daughter of a journalist, Giordano was elected Miss Liguria in 1954. Then she almost immediately started an intense film career, mainly appearing in genre films in which she was sometimes credited as Mary Jordan. She is known to cult horror movie fans for her starring roles in ''Giallo in Venice'', ''Patrick Lives Again'', ''The Devil's Daughter'', ''Satan's Baby Doll'', ''Burial Ground'' and ''Killer Barbys''. Since the 1980s, Giordano focused her career on television, appearing in the TV series ''Skipper'' and ''I ragazzi del muretto'', among others. She died in Dolcedo on 16 July 2011. The commedia sexy all'italiana (, lit. "sex comedy Italian style"), also known as commedia scollacciata or commedia erotica all'italiana, is a subgenre of Italian ''commedia all'italiana'' film genre. Style ''Commedia sexy'' is characterized typically by both abundant female nudity and comedy, and by the minimal weight given to social criticism that was the basic ingredient of the main ''commedia all'italiana'' genre. Stories are often set in affluent environments such as wealthy households. It is closely connected to the sexual revolution, and it was something extremely new and innovative for that period. For the first time, films with female nudity could be watched at the cinema. Pornography and scenes of explicit sex were still forbidden in Italian cinemas, but partial nudity was somewhat tolerated. Piero Regnoli (1921–2001) was an Italian screenwriter and film director. Career Born in 1921, Regnoli worked in the film industry between 1953 and 1991 where he wrote over 110 screenplays and directed 11 films.
