Francesco Battaglini
Francesco Battaglini (13 March 1823 – 8 July 1892) was a Roman Catholic Cardinal and Archbishop of Bologna. He was born in the Archdiocese of Bologna and received the sacrament of confirmation on 7 October 1827. He was educated at the University of Bologna where he earned his doctorate in theology in 1848. He was ordained to the priesthood on 20 September 1845. After his doctorate he was a professor of philosophy and theology at the Seminary of Bologna, until 1878. Episcopate Pope Leo XIII appointed him Bishop of Rimini in February 1879. He remained in the see of Rimini until he was appointed to the metropolitan see of Bologna on 3 July 1882. Like most Archbishops of Bologna he was created Cardinal-Priest of ''San Bernardo alle Terme'' in the consistory of 27 July 1885. He studied mathematics at the Scuola d'Applicazione di Ponti e Strade (School of Bridges and Roads) of Naples. In 1860 he was appointed professor of ''Geometria superiore'' at the University of Naples. Alfredo Capelli and Giovanni Frattini were his Laurea students. Marco Battaglini
Marco Battista Battaglini (25 March 1645 – 19 September 1717) was an Italian jurist and priest, known as a historian of the church councils. He served as Bishop of Cesena (1716–1717) and Bishop of Nocera Umbra (1690–1716). Biography Marco Battista Battaglini was born on 25 Mar 1646 in Rimini, Italy. He studied law at Cesena, both civil and ecclesiastical, and at the age of sixteen he obtained the degree of Doctor of Civil and Canon Law. After some years of service in the civil administration of the Papal States, he entered the priesthood. On 17 Apr 1690, he was appointed Bishop of Nocera Umbra by Pope Alexander VIII. On 7 May 1690, he was consecrated bishop by Gasparo Carpegna, Cardinal-Priest of Santa Maria in Trastevere. On 8 Jun 1716, he was transferred by Pope Clement XI to the Diocese of Cesena.
