Bato (IPA: ɐ'to, officially the Municipality of Bato ( ceb, Lungsod sa Bato; war, Bungto han Bato; tl, Bayan ng Bato), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 38,505 people. It borders with the municipality of Matalom in the south, Hilongos in the north, and Bontoc to the east. Bato, together with Hilongos, is also a center of commerce, trade and education in southwestern part of Leyte. Geography Barangays Bato is politically subdivided into 32 barangays. Bontoc, Southern Leyte
Bontoc, officially the Municipality of Bontoc ( ceb, Lungsod sa Bontoc; tl, Bayan ng Bontoc), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Southern Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 29,799 people. The town is home to the Bontoc Campus of the Southern Leyte State University, which offers agricultural and industrial courses. The town celebrates their fiesta in honor of the Holy Child Jesus. The Ulang Festival, held annually on January 15, is celebrated by colorful participants dancing in honor of the icon of the Señor Santo Niño (Holy Child Jesus).
