Batman And Robin (serial)
''New Adventures of Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder'', also known as simply ''Batman and Robin'', is a 15-chapter serial released in 1949 by Columbia Pictures. It is a sequel to the 1943 serial ''Batman'', although with different actors. Robert Lowery played Batman, while Johnny Duncan played Robin. Supporting players included Jane Adams as Vicki Vale and veteran character actor Lyle Talbot as Commissioner Gordon. The serials were re-released as Video On Demand titles by Rifftrax, the alumni project of former ''Mystery Science Theater 3000'' members Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett. As of September 2014, they have released the entire serial. Turner Classic Movies has broadcast the film serial from June to November 2015 and from October 2021 to January 2022 in a weekly half-hour slot on Saturday mornings. Spencer Gordon Bennet
Spencer Gordon Bennet (January 5, 1893 – October 8, 1987) was an American film producer and director. Known as the "King of Serial Directors", he directed more film serials than any other director. Biography Born in Brooklyn, New York, Bennet first entered show business as a stunt man, when he answered a newspaper ad to jump from the Palisades of the Hudson River while wearing a suit for the serial film ''Hurricane Hutch'' (1921). The gig at that time paid $1 per foot he had to fall. He made his directorial debut in 1921's ''Behold the Man'' but made his serial directorial debut in 1925 with ''Sunken Silver''. He would keep making serials, as well as B-Western features, until the very end of the genre, directing the last two serials made in the United States, ''Blazing the Overland Trail'' (1956) and ''Perils of the Wilderness'' (1956). Mischa Bakaleinikoff
Mikhail Romanovich "Mischa" Bakaleinikov (also spelled Bakaleynikov and Bakaleinikoff; russian: Михаил Романович Бакалейников; November 10, 1890 – August 10, 1960) was a noted musical director, film composer and conductor. Personal life Brother to Constantin, Nikolay and Vladimir, Bakaleinikoff was born in Moscow in 1890. He left the Soviet Union for the United States, travelling via Shanghai, China, to Los Angeles, in 1926, and joined Columbia Studios's music department in Hollywood in 1931. Death Bakaleinikoff was a member of a Masonic Lodge. At his funeral service in 1960, the music was played by a string ensemble from Columbia. He died at age 69, and was survived by his wife, Yvonne (née Wilson) and their four children. He was previously married to actress Helen Gilbert. James Gordon (character)
James W. "Jim" Gordon, Sr. is a fictional Character (arts), character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, most commonly in association with the superhero Batman. Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane as an ally of Batman, the character debuted in the first panel of ''Detective Comics'' #27 (May 1939), Batman's first appearance, making him the first List of Batman supporting characters, Batman supporting character ever to be introduced, eventually succeeding him as Batman from 2015 to 2016. As the police commissioner of Gotham City, Gordon shares Batman's deep commitment to ridding the city of crime. The character is typically portrayed as having full trust in Batman and is even somewhat dependent on him. Dick Grayson
Richard John "Dick" Grayson is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with Batman and Teen Titans. Created by writer Bill Finger and artist Bob Kane, he first appeared in ''Detective Comics'' #38 in April 1940 as the original and most popular incarnation of Robin, Batman's crime-fighting partner.
