Batesville High School (Indiana)
Batesville High School (BHS) is a public high school in Batesville, Indiana. The high school is part of the Batesville Community School Corporation and has an enrollment of 700. History 1875 marked the erection of the Batesville schoolhouse which was a two-story, four room brick building. To keep up with the increasing population there was an addition made to the schoolhouse in 1888, and in 1896 a second schoolhouse was built. As the town continued to grow it became apparent that a separate high school was needed. Batesville High School was constructed in 1927 on a large plot of land donated to the Batesville school system by George M. Hillenbrand. In 1963, the Batesville schools consolidated with the schools of Hamburg, St. Mary's and Oldenburg, which marks the beginning of the Batesville Community School Corporation. Batesville is a city in Franklin and Ripley counties in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 6,520 at the 2010 census, making it the largest community in both counties but is not the county seat of either. The Batesville Casket Company is headquartered here. Christopher Carl "Chris" Giesting (born December 10, 1992) is an American track and field sprinter who competes in the 400-meter dash. He was a gold medalist in the 4 × 400-meter relay at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships. He ran collegiately for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and won one NCAA indoor title. Bryan Hutson (born July 3, 1969, in Batesville, IN) is a gospel musician who has performed with The New Generation, The Heartland Quartet, The Blackwood Singers, and The Kingsmen Quartet. Personal life Virgil Bryan Hutson was born to the late JC Hutson and Norma "Cookie" Woods Hutson in Batesville, IN. Hutson grew up in southeastern Indiana with a love of gospel music and the church. The Miami Marlins are an American professional baseball team based in Miami. The Marlins compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) East division. Bryan Jerome Hoeing (born October 19, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2022. Amateur career Hoeing attended Batesville High School in Batesville, Indiana, where he played baseball and basketball. He was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 32nd round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, but he did not sign and instead enrolled at the University of Louisville to play college baseball for the Louisville Cardinals. In 2017 and 2018, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League. The NCAA Men's Division I Indoor Track and Field Championship is an annual collegiate indoor track and field competition for men organised by the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
