Bassnectar
Lorin Gabriel Ashton, better known under his stage name Bassnectar (born February 16, 1978), is an American DJ and record producer. Biography Ashton grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended Bellarmine College Preparatory. He initially identified with visual arts rather than music, creating movies with his dad's camera at the age of ten. When he was 16 years old, he played in a death metal band named Pale Existence, which contributed to his heavy style of music. In the following years, he became increasingly more involved in the scene, promoting shows, distributing food and assistance to concertgoers, buying records and eventually learning to DJ after studying electronic music production. He began creating music in the 1990s, using Opcode Systems Studio Vision Pro. In the mid-1990s, he briefly toured with death metal band Exhumed (band), Exhumed as a bass player. Electric Forest Festival
Electric Forest is a multi-genre music festival produced by Madison House Presents and Insomniac Events with a focus on electronic music and jam band genres. Original named Rothbury Festival in 2008, it is held in Rothbury, Michigan, Rothbury, Michigan at the Double JJ Resort. In 2017, Electric Forest was nominated for Festival of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards. Wakarusa Music And Camping Festival
Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival was a four-day music festival held annually in early June from 2004 to 2015 at Mulberry Mountain near Ozark, Arkansas. Named for the Wakarusa River, the festival was first held at Clinton State Park immediately outside of Lawrence, Kansas. It moved to its new location, just outside Fort Smith and Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2009. The festival is known for an eclectic mix of music and has featured artists like Grammy award winners the Black Keys, The Flaming Lips, Wilco, and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Activities other than music included disc golf, yoga, hiking, and swimming in the Mulberry River. Om Records is an American record label, established in 1995, which releases electronic music, dance music and hip hop. The label was founded in San Francisco in 1995 by Chris Smith. Om Records releases both artist albums and compilations, including the Om Lounge and Mushroom Jazz series. The Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival (commonly referred to as Okeechobee) is an annual four-day music and arts festival. It is held at the 600-acre Sunshine Grove property in Okeechobee, Florida. Owsla
Owsla (stylized in all caps) is an American record label and creative collective. It was founded by Skrillex, Tim Smith, Kathryn Frazier, and Clayton Blaha in 2011. Skrillex announced the label on August 17, 2011. The label's first release was Porter Robinson's ''Spitfire''. The name "Owsla" is a reference to Richard Adams' fantasy novel ''Watership Down'', in which it refers to the governing caste in a society of anthropomorphized rabbits. Destroid
Destroid were a dubstep supergroup and live dubstep band consisting of Excision (production and midi-guitars), Downlink (production and midi-guitars), and Pendulum drummer KJ Sawka, with collaboration from Space Laces and Ajapai. The band released two singles and two albums on their independent label, Destroid Music. Destroid also performed live music shows. Destroid promoted their dubstep music with online videos, social media marketing, and online graphic novels and a web page called "The Elevated", using the tagline "elevate your existence". Exhumed (band)
Exhumed is an American death metal band from San Jose, California that is currently signed to Relapse Records and centered around guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey. The band has released eight albums and eight split 7-inch singles. They were formed in 1990, went on hiatus in 2005, and reformed in 2010. Background Early history (1990–2000) Exhumed formed in 1990, when founding member Matt Harvey was 15 years old. Exhumed spent much of the ensuing decade releasing numerous demos, split CDs, and EPs.
