The Argentine Basketball Confederation ( es, Confederación Argentina de Básquetbol, CAB) is the governing body of basketball in Argentina. It is also one of the founding members of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), in 1932. It is a member of the FIBA Americas, and it is responsible for the Men's and the Women's national teams. Currently there are approximately 1,200 clubs registered with the association, as well as 130,500 male and 11,000 female players. Composition The CABB is composed of 24 Provincial Federations, as well as the "Asociación de Clubes de Básquetbol" which organises the first and second division league championships. Basketball At The 2019 Pan American Games
Basketball competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru began on July 27 and continue through August 10. The competitions are taking place at the Coliseo Eduardo Dibos. This was the Pan American Games debut of 3x3 basketball for both men and women, bringing the total number of basketball events on the program to four. This was done after the International Olympic Committee added the events to the program of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. A total of eight men's and eight women's teams (each consisting of up to twelve athletes) competed in each five-a-side tournament respectively, and six teams competed in each 3x3 tournament (with four athletes per team). The Basketball Tournament at the 1995 Pan American Games was held in Mar del Plata, Argentina from March 19 to March 25, 1995. The women's tournament was cancelled because as of March 3, 1995, only four women's teams had signed up to play. All the games were held in Polideportivo Islas Malvinas, which was built for this edition of the Pan American Games. Argentina won their first Pan American Games after beating United States in the final. The 2022 FIBA AmeriCup was the 19th edition of the FIBA AmeriCup, the main tournament for senior men's basketball national teams of the FIBA Americas. The tournament was played in Recife, Brazil, as Brasília was dropped as a second host city months before the tournament. It was originally scheduled to take place in 2021, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic to 2 to 11 September 2022. The 2011 FIBA Americas Championship for Men, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Americas, at the 2012 Summer Olympics men's basketball tournament, in London.
