Bashar Al-Shatti
Bashar al-Shatti ( ar, بشار الشطي; born 22 September 1982) is a Kuwaiti singer, songwriter and actor, and plays piano and guitar. He began his career as an orchestra chorale member. He served as a judge in the singing competition ''Arab Idol''. ''Star Academy'' Bashar's fame started along with the reality television show called ''Star Academy'' on LBC. There were rumors of a love affair between him and Moroccan contestant Sophia Marikh. '' Gulf News'' reported that teenagers welcomed him as a superstar. Bashar was the runner-up, but lost to Mohammed Attiyeh of Egypt. The following October, according to an '' Al Bawaba'' report, police investigated al-Shatti following a scuffle in Marina Mall in Kuwait. The report stated that fans gathered for pictures and autographs at a coffee shop where he and his brother were sitting, and that al-Shatti got into a physical altercation with some young hecklers, who later called the police. Kuwait City
Kuwait City ( ar, مدينة الكويت) is the capital and largest city of Kuwait. ''Al Rai'' (), which was published as '' Al Rai Alaam'' () from 1995 to 2006, is a Kuwaiti daily newspaper. According to a 2007 survey by the Washington-based Intermedia group, ''Al Rai'' ranked one among Kuwaiti newspapers for the fifth year in a row. History and profile The ''Al Rai Alaam'' newspaper license was rented to Jassim Al Boodai (the Alrai owner) in 1995, and it was published as ''Al Rai'' in 2006 after the new press law. Naomi Sakr is a British professor, author and public speaker. Her background is as a journalist, editor and country analyst with ''The Economist''. After earning a PhD from the University of Westminster in 1999, she became a Senior Lecturer there in 2004, and then a Reader in Communication in the School of Media, Arts and Design at Westminster in 2006.
