Col Du Tourmalet
Col du Tourmalet (; elevation ) is one of the highest paved mountain passes in the French Pyrenees, in the department of Hautes-Pyrénées. Sainte-Marie-de-Campan is at the foot on the eastern side and the ski station La Mongie two-thirds of the way up. The village of Barèges lies on the western side, above the town of Luz-Saint-Sauveur. Néouvielle National Nature Reserve
Néouvielle National Nature Reserve is a national nature reserve located in the Néouvielle massif. It ranges from to . With a wide array of flora and fauna, it contains about 370 animal species and 570 breeds of algae. Bagnères-de-Bigorre
Bagnères-de-Bigorre (, literally ''Bagnères of Bigorre''; oc, label= Gascon, Banhèras de Bigòrra ) is a commune and subprefecture of the Hautes-Pyrénées Department in the Occitanie region of southwestern France. Name The town was known in antiquity as (Latin for "watery neighborhood") and in the Middle Ages as ("Waters of the Comminges"). Its present name similarly means "Baths" ( oc, Banhèras) of Bigorre, the area of southwestern France once inhabited by the ' and now forming most of the department of Hautes-Pyrénées. Luz-Saint-Sauveur (; oc, Lus e Sent Sauvaire) is a Communes of France, commune in the Hautes-Pyrénées Departments of France, department in the Occitania (administrative region), Occitania region of south-western France. Turon De Néouvielle
The Turon du Néouvielle is a summit in the French Pyrenees, culminating at 3,035 m, located in the Néouvielle massif, Néouvielle Range, on the edge of the Pyrenees National Park. It is famous for having the first recorded ascent of a Pyrenees peak over 3,000 metres. History In 1787, on the second of August, Jean-Joseph Vidal, an astronomer from Mirepoix, Ariège, Mirepoix, and the chemist Henri Reboul from Toulouse, who was studying the snowmass in the Pyrenees, made the first recorded ascent. They gave their names to the rocky ridge which extends from the crest of Turon towards lac de Cap-de-Long, Cap-de-Long Lake. Pic De Néouvielle
Pic de Néouvielle (3,091 m) is a mountain in the Néouvielle massif in the French Pyrenees. It is located in the commune of Saint-Lary-Soulan within the department of the Hautes-Pyrénées, and lies on the border between the Pyrenees National Park and the Néouvielle National Nature Reserve. The name ''Pic de Néouvielle'' derives from ''nèu vielha'', meaning 'old snow' in the Occitan language; the inhabitants of the vallée d'Aure call the peak ''la montagne d'Aubert''. The mountain has four corries, some containing small glaciers, separated by sharp granite ridges. Its south face is between 400 and 500 m high, and dominates the deep valley of the lac de Cap-de-Long. The shapely Pic Ramougn lies on its east ridge. Route Nationale 618
Route nationale 618 or RN 618 was a French national road linking Saint-Jean-de-Luz (on the Atlantic Ocean) to Argelès-sur-Mer (on the Mediterranean). En route it crossed many of the famous passes in the Pyrenees, immortalized by the Tour de France; hence its name was the "''Route of the Pyrénées''". In 1970, the road was down-graded and is now the RD 918 from Saint-Jean-de-Luz to Arreau and the RD 618 from Arreau to Argelès Plage. La Mongie
The village of La Mongie is at altitude. There are also residences at 1850 and the Tourmalet building at 1900. It lies below the Col du Tourmalet . Aragnouet
Aragnouet (; oc, Aranhoet) is a commune in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in southwestern France. It is near with the Spanish border. Population Transportation The Bielsa tunnel under the Pyrenees connects Aragnouet and Bielsa in Spain. It was first opened in 1976.
