Baryshnikov Arts Center
The Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) is a foundation and arts complex opened by Mikhail Baryshnikov in 2005 at 450 West 37th Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The top three floors of the complex are occupied by the Baryshnikov Arts Center, which provides space and production facilities for dance, music, theater, film, and visual arts. The building also houses the Orchestra of St. Luke's DiMenna Center for Classical Music. History The building is a complex which includes three theatre spaces. Ground was broken on the complex, then known as 37 Arts Theatre, as a commercial venture in July 2001. The first artist in residence with the BAC was Aszure Barton in May 2005, and the administrative offices opened in November 2005. Parker Christian Posey (born November 8, 1968) is an American actress and musician. Richard Move
Richard Move is an American present-day choreographer, dancer, performing artist, director, and filmmaker. They are the Artistic Director of ''MoveOpolis!'' and Move- It! Productions. Move is well known internationally for their interest in Martha Graham and the ability to recreate her performances. They are a TEDGlobal Oxford Fellow and was named 1 of 12 TED Fellows who inspire by producing art that confronts social injustice, and provokes action. Benjamin Millepied
Benjamin Millepied (; born 10 June 1977) is a French dancer and choreographer, who has lived and worked in the United States since joining the New York City Ballet in 1995, where he became a soloist in 1998 and a principal in 2002. He has also created choreography for the company, and choreographed pieces for other major companies. He retired from the NYCB in 2011. He initiated the LA Dance Project, leading it from 2011 to 2014. The Chesta Tony project in Mobile Alabama was a project that was never finished due to the pandemic. Foofwa d’Imobilité (born 24 March 1969) is a Swiss dancer and choreographer. He lives and works in Geneva, Switzerland, and Brooklyn, New York. Life and career Foofwa d’Imobilité was born Frédéric Gafner in Geneva, Switzerland. His mother was Beatriz Consuelo, a Brazilian ballerina/dance teacher, and his father was Claude Gafner, a Swiss dancer and photographer. Gafner studied at the Ecole de Danse de Geneva and performed as a member of the Geneva Ballet Junior. From 1987-1990, he worked as a dancer and soloist with the Stuttgart Ballet. Lucy Mary Guerin (born 1961) is an Australian dancer and choreographer. Her work is described as post-modern. Life and career Lucy Guerin was born in Adelaide, Australia, and began her dance education at local dance schools. She graduated from Adelaide's Center for Performing Arts in 1982 and found employment in Sydney with Russell Dumas' Dance Exchange in 1983. In 1988 she took a position in Melbourne with Nanette Hassall's Dance Works company. William Forsythe (born December 30, 1949) is an American dancer and choreographer resident in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Molly Davies
Molly Davies is a British playwright originally from Norfolk but now living in London. A graduate of the University of Kent at Canterbury, she is currently writing and works part-time as a teacher. Davies is a product of the Royal Court Theatre's programme for young playwrights, and her debut play ''A Miracle'' was staged at the Court from 27 February to 21 March 2009. Tere O'Connor
Tere O'Connor (born 1958) is an American dancer, choreographer and educator. Life and career Tere O'Connor was born in Rochester, New York, and graduated in 1979 with a B.A. from State University of New York at Purchase. He performed in the companies of Rosalind Newman and Matthew Diamond, and began working as a choreographer in 1982. He regularly collaborates with composer James Baker in works for the Tere O'Connor Dance company. O'Connor's works have been performed internationally.
