Barthwal
Barthwal is a toponymic surname, rather a sub-caste, of Garhwali people, Garhwali Sarola Brahmins from Bareth, a village in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. Most Barthwal are concentrated in the district. The deity of Barthwals is Bhairava, who rides on the dog Shvaana. Like many sub-castes of Garhwal, it is said that they are not native to Garhwal division, Garhwal. One version (Rahul Sankrityayan's) has it that they descended from four brothers, each of whom settled in a different location in the Pauri district. Another version has it that they all originally belonged to the village Bareth in Dwarikhal, near Silogi. Vijaya Barthwal
Vijaya Barthwal is an Indian politician from the Bhartiya Janta Party. She is one of the most senior and active politician in Uttarakhand. She is three term Member of the Legislative Assembly and had represented Yamkeshwar assembly constituency of Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. She was in the Cabinet of chief minister B. C. Khanduri and Ramesh Pokhriyal's government. She is also served as the first deputy speaker of Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. Career Vijaya began her career from the political party Bharatiya Janata Party and elected first time as Member of the Legislative Assembly in 2002. Later she won as a candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2007 and 2012 Uttarakhand Assembly Election. She never lost any election in her career. Madhuri Barthwal
Madhuri Barthwal née Uniyal is a folk singer of Uttarakhand, India. She is the first woman to be a music composer in All India Radio. She is said to be the first female Uttrakhand's musician to become a music teacher. On International Women's Day in 2019 she was awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar by Ram Nath Kovind.she was awarded thPadma shriIndia's fourth most noteworthy regular citizen grant in 2022 by the Indian Government in the field of art.
