Bartha Maria Knoppers, OC OQ (born May 26, 1951) is a Canadian law Professor and an expert on the ethical aspects of genetics, genomics and biotechnology. Born in Hilversum, Netherlands, she received a Bachelor of Arts (French and English Literature) from McMaster University (1972), a Master of Arts degree in comparative literature from the University of Alberta (1974), Bachelor of Common Law (1978) and Civil Law (1981) degrees from McGill University, where she was selected as an Executive Editor for the ''McGill Law Journal'', a Diploma of Legal Studies from University of Cambridge (1981), and a Doctorate of Laws from the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (1985). Bartha van Crimpen (1754–1818), was a Dutch patriot. She became a national symbol and impersonated "Freedom" in the inauguration of the first national parliament of the Batavian Republic 3 March 1796. She was the daughter of Adrianus van Crimpen (1715–1799) and Maria Clasina van Doorschot (d. 1775) and married in 1775 to the official Ary van der Meer (1753–1805). Andrea Bartha is a Hungarian set designer, costume designer, and visual artist. Biography Andrea Bartha was born in Budapest, Hungary. She studied painting and art history at the University of Costa Rica, San José. By this time she worked for the Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica, first as a scenic artist, then later as a designer. Continuing her studies in Budapest at the ELTE University, ''Faculty of Human Sciences'', she graduated in History and Philosophy of Art, then carried on postgraduate studies in the subject of History and Theory of Theater. Vitéz Károly Bartha de Dálnokfalva (18 June 1884 – 22 November 1964) was a Hungarian military officer and politician, who served as Minister of Defence between 1938 and 1942. During World War I, he had several high commander offices in Budapest and Trieste. In 1919, he fought against the armies of Czechoslovakia and Romania. After the fall of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, Bartha joined the National Army led by Miklós Horthy. Béla Imrédy appointed him as Minister of Defence and Bartha kept his position in the ensuing governments until 1942. While he was in office, plenty of major events took place: the First and Second Vienna Awards, the occupation of Bácska and Prekmurje, the bombing of Kassa thereafter Hungary entered the Second World War (1941). He played a large role in the unfortunate occasions of Vojvodina massacres. Horthy fired the government because of their pro-German stance.
