Barry Van Gerbig
Barend "Barry" van Gerbig (born 1939) is a US millionaire socialite best known as the owner of the National Hockey League's California Seals. Early life Van Gerbig was born in New York City as the son of attorney Howell van Gerbig and his wife Dorothy Fell van Gerbig. He attended Princeton University, graduating in 1961. At Princeton, he played for the school's ice hockey squad as goaltender. After graduation, he briefly played minor league hockey for the Charlotte Checkers and Des Moines Oak Leafs. Afterward, he worked on Wall Street, owning stock in Union Carbide and Standard Oil of New Jersey. Involvement in the NHL Van Gerbig was a friend of a number of NHL owners, including Bruce Norris of the Detroit Red Wings, Weston Adams of the Boston Bruins (and his attorney, Charles Mulcahy), and William Jennings of the New York Rangers. Northrup Rand Knox (December 24, 1928 – July 23, 1998), was a Buffalo banker, sportsman, and community leader who, along with his brother Seymour, brought the National Hockey League to Buffalo, New York, as founders of the Buffalo Sabres. Knox was the third generation of the Knox family to serve as chairman of Marine Midland Bank and its predecessors. His father Seymour H. Knox II and grandfather Seymour H. Ice Follies
The Ice Follies, formerly known as the Shipstads & Johnson Ice Follies, is a touring ice show featuring elaborate production numbers, similar in concept to Ice Capades. It was founded in 1936 by Eddie and Roy Shipstad, and Oscar Johnson. In later years, Olympic skaters such as Donald Jackson, Barbara Berezowski, Peggy Fleming, and Janet Lynn were in the cast. Ice Follies also featured novelty acts such as Frick and Frack and Richard Dwyer, who was billed as "Mr. Debonair". John Brodie
John Riley Brodie (born August 14, 1935) is a former American football player, a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL) for 17 seasons. He had a second career as a Senior PGA Tour professional golfer, and was a television broadcaster for both sports. During various years of his NFL career, Brodie led the League in passing yardage, passing touchdowns, fewest sacks, and lowest percentage of passes intercepted.
