Barry Round
Barry James Round (26 January 1950 – 24 December 2022) was an Australian rules footballer. He played for and South Melbourne/Sydney in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1969 and 1985. He played 328 games (135 for Footscray and 193 for South Melbourne/Sydney), won a Brownlow Medal in 1981 (tying with his former teammate Bernie Quinlan) and was the Swans' first captain during the Sydney era. After retirement from VFL football, he played and coached for several years for Williamstown in the Victorian Football Association, the second-highest level of football in Victoria, where he participated in their 1986 and captain-coached their 1990 premiership teams. The Williamstown Football Club, nicknamed The Seagulls, is an Australian rules football club based in Melbourne. The club currently competes in the men's and women's Victorian Football League and VFLW competitions. History The Williamstown Football Club was formed in 1864, making it one of the oldest football clubs in Australia. The club was initially considered a junior club, before being granted senior status in 1884. Starting in 1884, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association. Williamstown's original colours were black and yellow. David Round
David Round (born 25 June 1978) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Round, the son of former Brownlow Medal winner Barry, was drafted by the Western Bulldogs under the father–son rule. He was recruited from the Calder Cannons and before that played at Strathmore. A ruckman, he was aged 18 when he made his AFL debut in round three of the 1997 AFL season, against Richmond at the MCG. He could only manage one kick but kept his spot in the side for the following week's fixture against Melbourne. Round again struggled to have an impact, with just two hit-outs and a solitary kick. Having been delisted at the end of the season, Round was rookie listed by North Melbourne. However, he did not play a senior game and ended up at Victorian Football League (VFL) club Williamstown, another of his father's former clubs.
