Barry Kemp (TV Producer)
Barry Kemp (born December 4, 1949 in Hannibal, Missouri) is a television producer, director and writer, and a movie producer. He has written for numerous TV shows, but his two best-known creations are '' Newhart'' (he wrote the oft-repeated line: "Hi, I'm Larry. This is my brother Darryl and this is my other brother Darryl"), which lasted for eight seasons on CBS (1982–1990) and '' Coach'', which lasted for nine seasons on ABC (1989–1997). He also wrote for '' Taxi'' for four seasons and was the creator of ''Fresno'' and ''Delta''. Kemp's movie productions include ''Romy and Michele's High School Reunion'', ''Patch Adams'' and ''Catch Me If You Can''. Kemp is a 1971 graduate of the University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts. Newhart
''Newhart'' is an American sitcom television series that aired on CBS from October 25, 1982, to May 21, 1990, with a total of 184 half-hour episodes spanning eight seasons. The series stars Bob Newhart and Mary Frann as an author and his wife, respectively, who own and operate an inn in a small, rural Vermont town that is home to many eccentric characters. ''TV Guide'', TV Land, and A&E named the ''Newhart'' series finale as one of the most memorable in television history. The theme music for ''Newhart'' was composed by Henry Mancini. Premise Bob Newhart plays Dick Loudon, an author of do-it-yourself and travel books. He and his wife Joanna move from New York City to a small town in rural Vermont to operate the 200-year-old Stratford Inn. The Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) is a labor union representing film, television, radio, and new media writers. It was formed in 1954 from five organizations representing writers, including the Screen Writers Guild. It has around 20,000 members. History The Screen Writers Guild (SWG) was formed in 1921 by a group of ten screenwriters in Hollywood angered over wage reductions announced by the major film studios. The group affiliated with the Authors Guild in 1933 and began representing TV writers in 1948. In 1954, the SWG was one of five groups who merged to represent professional writers on both coasts and became the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAe) and West (WGAw). Howard J.
