Barry Kamen
Barry Owen Kamen (22 September 1963 – 3rd October 2015) was a British artist, stylist and model of mixed Burmese, Irish, Dutch and French descent. He was best known as an original member of Ray Petri's Buffalo movement. Early life Barry Kamen was born in Harlow, England, to Zoe and Neville Kamen. He was the last of eight children, with four sisters, Sheila, Denise, Ed, Leilani and three brothers, Ronald Kamen, Chester Kamen and Nick Kamen. He attended St Marks RC Comprehensive School, and later Cambridge College of Art. Career in Fashion and Styling Barry Kamen began his career as a model in his late teens. After a chance meeting with pioneer stylist Ray Petri in the early 1980s on the King's Road, both brothers became founding members of the Buffalo movement led by Petri, and became his muses. Harlow
Harlow is a large town and local government district located in the west of Essex, England. Founded as a new town, it is situated on the border with Hertfordshire and London, Harlow occupies a large area of land on the south bank of the upper Stort Valley, which has been made navigable through other towns and features a canal section near its watermill. Manchild (song)
"Manchild" is a song by Swedish singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry, released as the second single from her debut album, '' Raw Like Sushi'' (1989). The single was a top-10 success in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and several European countries. "Manchild" did not chart in the United States or Canada. It was the first song Neneh sat down and wrote. She composed the song on a Casio keyboard (the same one she uses to this day), using an auto-chord setting and ended up with 7 chords in the verse alone. Neneh's stepfather Don Cherry commented on this praisingly, comparing it to a jazz song structure. Nellee Hooper did the beat for the song and wrote the rap with Robert Del Naja. Neneh then gave it to Cameron McVey, who helped to shape the song with the parts and "made it make sense". The song's lyrics are "directed at a full-grown man who has a little more growing up to do". Ivor Neville "Nick" Kamen (15 April 1962 – 4 May 2021) was an English singer-songwriter, musician and model. He was best known for "Turn It Up" from 1989, the singles "Each Time You Break My Heart" from 1986 and "I Promised Myself" from 1990, as well as for appearing in a 1985 Levi's advert. UB40
UB40 are an English reggae and pop band, formed in December 1978 in Birmingham, England. The band has had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, and has also achieved considerable international success. They have been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album four times, and in 1984 were nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Group. UB40 have sold over 70 million records worldwide. "Each Time You Break My Heart" is a song recorded by British singer Nick Kamen, for his eponymous debut studio album (1987). It was released by Sire Records on 2 November 1986 as his debut single in 7-inch and 12-inch maxi formats. Kamen had gained popularity by starring in a 1985 Levi's television commercial, later deciding to delve into music business and signed a record deal with Sire. "Each Time You Break My Heart" was the lead single from his album, written and produced by Madonna and Stephen Bray. It was originally set to be included on Madonna's third studio album, '' True Blue'' (1986), but failed to make the final track list. Madonna also provided background vocals on the track. A promotional video to accompany the single was directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino. Skids (band)
Skids are a Scottish punk rock and new wave band, formed in Dunfermline in 1977 by Stuart Adamson (guitar, keyboards, percussion and backing vocals), William Simpson (bass guitar and backing vocals), Thomas Kellichan (drums) and Richard Jobson (vocals, guitar and keyboards). Their biggest successes were the 1979 single "Into the Valley" and the 1980 album '' The Absolute Game.'' In 2016, the band announced a 40th-anniversary tour of the UK with their original singer Richard Jobson. Richard Jobson (television Presenter)
Richard Jobson (born 6 October 1960) is a Scottish filmmaker (director, writer, producer) who also works as a television presenter. He is also known as the singer-songwriter of the band Skids. Early life Jobson was born in Kirkcaldy and grew up in Crosshill, Ballingry and Fife, the son of a miner and a worker at Rosyth Dockyard. He attended St Columba's Roman Catholic High School, Dunfermline. His family were of Irish Catholic descent. Skids Jobson is the lead singer with the punk rock group Skids, whose original run was from 1977 -1982. Jobson's singing style with Skids was highly distinctive, and he wrote the lyrics, while Stuart Adamson wrote most of the music. ''Scared to Dance'', the first Skids album, featured the 1979 hit single "Into the Valley", the group's most successful single. Jobson appeared on BBC Television's ''Top of the Pops'' singing it.
