Barry Grant
Barry Grant is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Brookside'', played by Paul Usher. The character debuted on-screen during the first episode of ''Brookside'', broadcast on 2 November 1982. Barry is one of the show's original characters and the only character to appear in the first and final episodes of ''Brookside''. Usher decided to leave ''Brookside'' in 1984, but returned the following year and remained a regular cast member until 1995. He then returned for guest stints in 1996, 1997 and 2003. Barry is characterised as a "hard man" and constant law breaker. Writers transformed Barry into ''Brookside's'' long-standing villainous character. Ricky Tomlinson
Eric "Ricky" Tomlinson (born 26 September 1939) is an English actor. He is best known for his television roles as Bobby Grant in ''Brookside'', DCI Charlie Wise in '' Cracker'' and Jim Royle in ''The Royle Family'', and playing the titular character in the film '' Mike Bassett: England Manager'' (2001). Early life Eric Tomlinson was born on 26 September 1939 at Burleigh House in Bispham, Blackpool, Lancashire, and has lived in Liverpool nearly all his life. His father was a baker and he was born in Bispham, near Blackpool, because, just after the outbreak of World War II, his mother Peggy was evacuated there over concerns that Liverpool would be bombed. He attended Walton Technical College in Walton, after passing an exam when he was 13. His favourite subject was English. Simon O'Brien (born 19 June 1965 in Garston, Liverpool, Merseyside) is a British television actor and radio presenter as well as a property developer. Career He came to prominence as the character Damon Grant in ''Brookside'', a role he played from the soap's launch in 1982 until 1987, when his character was killed off in York at the end of the 'soap bubble' ''Damon and Debbie''. In 1989, Simon starred in the British version of Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock until 1990. He portrayed the Lighthouse Keeper called BJ in the much acclaimed musical puppet TV series. Tracy Corkhill is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Brookside'', played by Justine Kerrigan. The character debuted on-screen during the episode broadcast on 10 September 1985. Tracy was introduced as part of a new family, the Corkhills, which also includes her brother Rod Corkhill (Jason Hope) and their parents Doreen Corkhill (Kate Fitzgerald) and Billy Corkhill (John McArdle). Malcolm Tierney (25 February 1938 – 18 February 2013) was an English actor who appeared in many film and television roles. Early life Tierney's father, Ernest, was a boilermaker and trained draughtsman, from Warrington, who worked at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. His mother, Agnes, née Kennedy, worked in the cotton mills. He attended St Mary's Roman Catholic School in Failsworth and studied design at the Manchester School of Art. While working as a textile designer and printmaker, he became involved in amateur dramatics at the Little Theatre, in Bolton, which had been set up by John Wardle, father of the drama critic Irving Wardle, whose wife, Norma, became a mentor to Tierney.
