Barron Stadium
Barron Stadium is a 6,500-seat football field and track & field stadium in Rome, Georgia. It is home to the Shorter University Hawks and Rome High School Wolves football teams. The facility hosted the NAIA Football National Championship from 2008-13 and the NCCAA Victory Bowl in 2013-14, as well as the NCCAA track championships from 2014-16. Barron Stadium is owned by the Rome- Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority (RFPRA), a city-county partnership, and has been operated by the Rome City School District since 2015. For usage, it cost Shorter University $7,500 in 2012 to host its home football games as part of a three-year, $321,000 contract that included football, track & field, other sports, events, and the school's commencement exercises. Tax-allocation District
A tax-allocation district (TAD), also known as tax increment financing, is a defined area where real estate property tax monies gathered above a certain threshold for a certain period of time (typically 25 years) to be used for a specified improvement. The funds raised from a TAD are placed in a tax-free bond (finance) where the money can continue to grow. These improvements are typically for revitalization and especially to complete redevelopment efforts. Tax-increment financing has attracted much criticism as merely a subsidy to connected developers. State Mutual Stadium
AdventHealth Stadium, located in Rome, Georgia, has been the home of the Rome Braves, of the South Atlantic League, since its completion in April 2003. The facility seats 5,105 people. History At the end of the 2002 season, the Atlanta Braves decided to move their Class A Macon Braves. The move came after disputes between the city of Macon and the team over a new ballpark. The city of Rome, Georgia was able to get the approval of SPLOST and lure the Braves to Rome. Using completely SPLOST tax the ballpark was funded and was ready for use in the 2003 season. The construction cost $19 million which is worth $26.7 million in 2020. The stadium has under gone many renovations, the most recent being in 2021. Berry College
Berry College is a private liberal arts college in the Mount Berry community adjacent to Rome, Georgia. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Berry College was founded on values based on Christian principles in 1902 by Martha Berry. History In 1902 Martha Berry, daughter of a prominent local business owner, founded the Boys Industrial School on 83 acres of land inherited from her father. In exchange or an education, male students of the school would work to help build, run, and maintain the new school. In 1909, the Martha Berry School for Girls was added, and collectively with the boys school became known as the Berry Schools. Rome High School (RHS) is a public high school that opened in 1992 and is located in Rome, Georgia, United States. It is a part of Rome City School District. About Rome High offers Advanced Placement (AP), Duel Enrollment, and Career Technical and Agricultural Educations (CTAE) classes. Darlington School is a private, coeducational, college-preparatory day and boarding school in Rome, Georgia founded in 1905. Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. The main reason is maintenanceartificial turf stands up to heavy use, such as in sports, and requires no irrigation or trimming. Domed, covered, and partially covered stadiums may require artificial turf because of the difficulty of getting grass enough sunlight to stay healthy.
