Barrie Norman Lester (born 1982) is an Australian international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career World Championship In 2016 he was part of the triples team with Aron Sherriff and Mark Casey who won the silver medal at the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch and won another silver medal in the fours. In 2020 he was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia. Commonwealth Games Lester won a bronze medal in the pairs with Nathan Rice at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Further success came as part of the Australian team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland where he won two silver medals in the Triples and the Fours. In 2022, he competed in the men's triples and the men's fours at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Lester, along with Carl Healey and Ben Twist won the silver medal. 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship
The 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was to be the 14th edition of the World Championships to be held at the Broadbeach Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club and Club Helensvale on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. There were to be eight events that determined the 2021 world champions, the men's singles, doubles, triples and fours and the women's singles, doubles, triples and fours and in addition there are two overall team winners who receive the Leonard and Taylor trophies respectively. It was originally scheduled from 23 May to 7 June 2020 but the event was officially cancelled on 9 March 2021. Postponement The event followed suit of other sporting events around the world in early 2020, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak wreaking havoc across the sporting industry. Australian National Bowls Championships
The Australian National Bowls Championships and the Australian Open are organised by Bowls Australia. Bowls dates back to 1845 in Australia but it was not until 1910, during the 1910 Carnival of bowls that South Australia proposed the formation of the Australian Bowling Council (consisting of the six states) which duly formed the following year in 1911. The first National Singles Championships were held in 1913, with each state holding the Championships in turn. The Championships were also known as the Carnival at one stage. The Championships were not held for a twelve year period from 2005 until 2016 when the Australian Open effectively replaced the National Championships. The Hong Kong International Bowls Classic is an international lawn bowls competition. It is one of the most prestigious events on the lawn bowls calendar. Ben Twist
Ben Twist (born 1 June 1990) is an Australian international lawn bowler. Bowls career He started bowling in 2003 and his first success was the Queensland state triples in 2007. He won the Australian Open triples in 2010 and made his international debut in 2018. Twist became the Australian national champion after winning the 2019 Australian National Bowls Championships triples title. In 2018, he won the Hong Kong International Bowls Classic singles title, having previously won the pairs with Jesse Noronha in 2017. In 2021, he won his second Australian Open crown, this time in the fours. In 2022, he competed in the men's triples and the men's fours at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Carl Healey (born 29 March 1987) is an Australian international lawn bowler. He has represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games and won a silver medal. Bowls career He started bowling in 2000 and won the Australian Open fours in 2008 and pairs in 2018. In 2022, he competed in the men's triples and the men's fours at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Healey, along with Ben Twist and Barrie Lester won the silver medal in the triples. Later in 2022, he won his third Australian Open.
