Barrie
Barrie is a city in Southern Ontario, Canada, about north of Toronto. The city is within Simcoe County and located along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay, the western arm of Lake Simcoe. Although physically in Simcoe County, Barrie is politically independent. The city is part of the extended urban area in southern Ontario known as the Greater Golden Horseshoe. As of the 2021 census, the city's population was 147,829, while the census metropolitan area had a population of 212,667 residents. The area was first settled during the War of 1812 as a supply depot for British forces, and Barrie was named after Sir Robert Barrie. Park Place (Ontario)
Park Place (formerly Molson Park) is a shopping centre located in the south end of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The land operated as a brewery from 1967–1999, and as a high-capacity outdoor concert venue from 1987–2005. As a music venue, Molson Park saw acts including Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, Aretha Franklin, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Nofx, and Oasis. Allandale Waterfront GO Station
Allandale Waterfront GO Station was built just south of Allandale Station, a historic train station that occupies a large property on the southern shore of Lake Simcoe in the waterfront area of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The current station and former station were built on a burial site of the Wyandot people, Huron indigenous peoples. Construction of the new facility began in 2009. GO Transit announced on 15 June 2011 that the station would open in the autumn of 2011, but construction delayed its opening until January 2012. Barrie South GO Station is a train and bus station on the GO Transit Barrie line, located in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Barrie Transit buses provide public transit access to the rest of the city. As of January 2012, the station is used by about 700 passengers per day, up from 350 at the time of its opening.
