Barretos is a municipality in the northern part of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The city has approximately 122,833 inhabitants (IBGE/2020) and an area of 1566.1 km². Barretos belongs to the Mesoregion of Ribeirão Preto. History The city was founded on August 25, 1854. The first chapel was built in 1856, where today lies the "Praça Francisco Barreto". Paulo Vitor de Souza Barreto (born 12 July 1985), known as Barreto, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a striker. Club career Early career Barreto grew up in the youth ranks of Treviso.
