Barra Grant (born Barbara Carol Wayne) is an American actress, screenwriter, film director and playwright. Biography Grant was born Barbara Carol Wayne in New York City, the daughter of Allan Wayne, a doll company executive, and Bess Myerson, Miss America 1945. Her parents divorced in 1958 due to her father's abuse. She became Barra Grant when her mother married Arnold Grant and he adopted her in 1962. She was educated at the Birch Wathen Lenox School, Bryn Mawr College, and Barnard College. She also went to London for three years to study acting. Grant began an acting career in the early 1970s, appearing on television and in film. One of her first roles was as Lulie in the BBC series ''Take Three Girls''. While acting at The Mark Taper she was inspired to start writing. In 1978, she wrote and appeared in the film ''Slow Dancing in the Big City''. Bess Myerson
Bess Myerson (July 16, 1924 – December 14, 2014) was an American politician, model and television actress who in 1945 became the first Miss America who was also Jewish. Her achievement, in the aftermath of the Holocaust, was seen as an affirmation of the Jewish place in American life. She was a heroine to parts of the Jewish community, where "she was the most famous pretty girl since Queen Esther." Myerson made frequent television appearances during the 1950s and 1960s. She was a commissioner in the New York City government, served on presidential commissions from the 1960s through the 1980s, and ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate. Her career in public service ended in the late 1980s when she was indicted on bribery and conspiracy charges. She was acquitted after a highly publicized trial. Overview Kennedy stars as Samuel Patrick Cavanaugh, a San Diego police detective sergeant who decides to retire and enter the priesthood after his wife is murdered. ''Dirty Dancing'' is an American comedy-drama television series that ran for 11 episodes on CBS from October 29, 1988, until January 14, 1989. It was based on the film '' Dirty Dancing'' but had none of the original cast or crew. It starred Patrick Cassidy as Johnny (Patrick Swayze's character in the film) and Melora Hardin as Baby (Jennifer Grey's character in the film). Plot The television series followed the same basic premise of the film, with a few variations. The series was still set at Kellerman's during the summer of 1963, but instead of being the daughter of a resort guest, Baby became the daughter of Max Kellerman (in the film, Baby's last name was Houseman), and was put in charge of Johnny as Kellerman's talent director. ''CBS Summer Playhouse'' is an American anthology series that ran from June 12, 1987 to August 22, 1989 on CBS. It aired unsold television pilots during the summer season. Overview Tim Reid and Daphne Maxwell Reid acted as hosts during the first season, introducing each pilot. Viewers were also encouraged to call a 1-800 number at the end of each episode, to voice their preference. However, the "winning" pilot chosen by the viewers was never picked up as a series. The series was revamped during the second and third seasons, and featured no hosts or viewer voting. Reception David Bianculli of ''The Philadelphia Inquirer'' criticized the anthology series, writing that it "may be the most inaccurate title ever given to a TV program".
