Baroness-in-Waiting
Lords-in-waiting (male) or baronesses-in-waiting (female) are peers who hold office in the Royal Household of the sovereign of the United Kingdom. In the official Court Circular they are styled "Lord in Waiting" or "Baroness in Waiting" (without hyphenation). There are two kinds of lord-in-waiting: political appointees by the government of the day who serve as junior government whips in the House of Lords (the senior whips have the positions of Captain of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms and Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard); and non-political appointments by the monarch (who, if they have a seat in the House of Lords, sit as crossbenchers). Olivia Caroline Bloomfield, Baroness Bloomfield of Hinton Waldrist (born 30 June 1960) is a British life peer and member of the House of Lords. The peerages in the United Kingdom are a legal system comprising both hereditary title, hereditary and life peer, lifetime titles, composed of various Imperial, royal and noble ranks, noble ranks, and forming a constituent part of the Orders, decorations, and medals of the United Kingdom, British honours system. James Edward George Younger, 5th Viscount Younger of Leckie (born 11 November 1955), is an elected hereditary peer who sits on the Conservative benches in the House of Lords. Henry Lyttelton Alexander Hood, 8th Viscount Hood (born 16 March 1958), is a British peer and solicitor. He succeeded to the viscountcy on 2 October 1999, after the death of his father, Alexander Hood, 7th Viscount Hood. His mother, Diana Maud Lyttelton (1920–2008), was the second daughter of George Lyttelton of the Lyttelton family (Viscounts Cobham), thus making Lord Hood a nephew of noted entertainer Humphrey Lyttelton.
