Barney Sarecky
Barney Sarecky (May 7, 1895 – August 10, 1968) was an American film producer and screenwriter, from the late 1930s into the 1950s. The younger brother of producer/screenwriter Louis Sarecky, he had a much more prolific career, writing or producing almost 75 films. Beginning as an associate producer, he would continue in that role until late in his career, when he would move up into the producer role, beginning with 1947's ''Trailing Danger''. In the early 1950s he would move from the big screen to the smaller screen, working as the associate producer on the highly successful television series, '' Adventures of Superman''. He worked on two small television movies in the mid-1960s, and he was an associate producer on the short-lived television series, ''The American West'', in 1968, shortly before his death on August 10. The Ape Man
''The Ape Man'' is a 1943 American horror film directed by William Beaudine. The film is based on "They Creep in the Dark" by Karl Brown, which was published in ''The Saturday Evening Post''. It stars Bela Lugosi as Dr. James Brewster who is aided by his colleague Dr. Randall (Henry Hall). The doctor managed to transform himself into a ape man hybrid and desperately seeks a cure. Brewster believes that only the injection of human spinal fluid will prove effective as a cure. As Randall refuses to help him, Brewster and his captive gorilla seek involuntary donors. ''Kid Dynamite'' is a 1943 American film directed by Wallace Fox and starring the East Side Kids. It was based on the 1942 short story ''The Old Gang'' by Paul Ernst and features additional dialogue by comedian Morey Amsterdam. The working title of this film was ''Little Mobsters''. Plot Muggs McGinnis practices for his boxing match the next night. In order to raise money, Muggs and the gang go to Nick's pool hall and challenge hall regular Harry Wycoff to a game of pool. Muggs has pre-arranged with gang member Danny to use special trick chalk for the pool cue so that Wycoff will lose, but Danny is so convinced of Muggs's talent that he does not use the chalk, and Muggs loses the match. Plot When Glimpy's sister, Betty, marries Jack, Muggs singlehandedly organizes the wedding. The gang provide a choral version of "Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes" as well as organ music. ''Smart Alecks'' is a 1942 American film directed by Wallace Fox and starring the East Side Kids. Plot Hank Salko, a member of the Eastside youth gang in New York, is initiated into the world of adult crime when two gangsters, Mike and Butch Brocalli, hire him to stand watch while they rob a bank. When Hank tries to share some of his ill-gotten money with the East Side Kids, they suspend him from the club, and Hank is then arrested by Joe Reagan, the local policeman. While playing baseball in the street, the Kids accidentally send a ball crashing through the window of the apartment in which Butch and Mike are hiding. Butch emerges and refuses to give the ball back, so Danny runs after him. When Joe recognizes Butch, he chases him and Danny trips the criminal, who is then arrested along with Mike.
