Barneveld is a town in the Dutch province of Gelderland and also the administrative center of the eponymous municipality. Transport Barneveld is served by Connexxion at three train stations. Barnevelder
The Barnevelder is a Dutch breed of domestic chicken. It resulted from cross-breeding between local Dutch chickens and various "Shanghai" birds imported from Asia to Europe in the later part of the nineteenth century; these may have been of Brahma, Cochin or Croad Langshan type. It is named for the town and ''gemeente'' (municipality) of Barneveld, in Gelderland in the central Netherlands. The hens are good layers of large brown eggs and, unlike some other breeds, continue to lay well during winter. History In the 1850s Asian chickens began to arrive in Europe, where they were at first known as "Shanghai" chickens. These were initially cross-bred among themselves, and only later developed into breeds such as the Brahma, the Cochin and the Croad Langshan. From about 1865, some of these Shanghai chickens were cross-bred with local farmyard chickens in the area of Barneveld. De Hoeksteen (''The Cornerstone'') in Barneveld, the Netherlands, is the second largest church building in the Netherlands. Alfred Schreuder (; born 2 November 1972) is a Dutch football coach, currently as head coach of Ajax. Club career During his career, Schreuder played for RKC Waalwijk, NAC Breda, Feyenoord, FC Twente and Vitesse. After he had stopped playing for FC Twente in March 2008, he joined SDV Barneveld on an amateur basis. After about three months, he returned as professional football player, signing a contract for one year at Vitesse. He retired in January 2009. Egbert Adriaan Kreiken (1 November 1896, Barneveld, Gelderland – 16 August 1964) was a Dutch teacher and astronomer. He was born at Barneveld in the Netherlands, to a family of teachers. After being awarded his Ph.D. in 1923, he would become a professor of astronomy in Amsterdam. For most of his life he served as an educator, working in Indonesia, Liberia, and Turkey. While he was in Indonesia he served as that nation's Minister of Education. He became the director of the astronomy institute in Turkey, after moving there in 1954. He would help found the Ankara University Observatory. Over a forty-year career he would publish a number of papers on astronomy, including studies of stars and stellar systems. Jacobus Cornelius Kapteyn
Prof Jacobus Cornelius Kapteyn FRS FRSE LLD (19 January 1851 – 18 June 1922) was a Dutch astronomer. He carried out extensive studies of the Milky Way and was the discoverer of evidence for galactic rotation. Kapteyn was also among the first to suggest the existence of dark matter using stellar velocities as early as 1922. Kapteyn's family and early life Kapteyn was born in Barneveld in the Netherlands to Gerrit J. and Elisabeth C. (née Koomans) Kapteyn, and was one of 15 children. Many of the Kapteyns were gifted in mathematics and physics. He passed his entrance exams for university at the age of 16 but Kapteyn's parents wouldn't allow him to go until the following year. He went to the University of Utrecht to study mathematics and physics in 1868. He did very well in his studies and when he graduated he was magna cum laude.
