Barn Jams
''Barn Jams'' are a series of instrumental pieces written by Pink Floyd guitarist, David Gilmour and performed by him and the core members of his 2006 On an Island Tour band, Guy Pratt on bass, Richard Wright on keyboards and Steve DiStanislao on drums. The sessions were recorded and filmed in a barn at Gilmour's home in Sussex, in January 2007. It is unknown how many pieces exist, although Gilmour himself, in a bonus interview within the second DVD of his 2008 release ''Live in Gdańsk'', claims that he and guitarist Phil Manzanera (who co-produced the ''On an Island'' album) recorded and catalogued "close to 200" jams. Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London in 1965. Rattle That Lock
''Rattle That Lock'' is the fourth solo studio album by former Pink Floyd singer and guitarist David Gilmour. It was released on 18 September 2015 via Columbia Records. The artwork for the album was created by Dave Stansbie from The Creative Corporation under the direction of Aubrey Powell, who has worked with Gilmour and Pink Floyd since the late 1960s. The album received generally positive reviews from critics and was a commercial success, becoming Gilmour's second UK no.1 solo album. Gilmour supported the album with the Rattle That Lock Tour throughout 2015 and 2016, with a performance from the tour at the Amphitheatre of Pompeii being made into the live album and video, ''Live at Pompeii'' (2017). Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. Since the mid-1950s, the bass guitar has largely replaced the double bass in popular music. An electronic keyboard, portable keyboard, or digital keyboard is an electronic musical instrument, an electronic derivative of keyboard instruments. Console Steel Guitar
The console steel guitar is any type of electric steel guitar that is built in a frame supported by legs. It may be a lap steel or a pedal steel. Console steel guitars are typically heavier instruments that have multiple necks and/or more than six strings per neck and are therefore not manageable on the player's lap. This type of instrument was created when players in the late 1940s needed to play in different keys and with different chords than the lap steel afforded. To do this, they added additional necks (each tuned differently with additional strings) to a lap steel. The player could then easily switch to a different neck on the same instrument, but this made the instrument so heavy and cumbersome that it could not be easily held on the lap. Trying to solve the problem with multiple necks led to the invention of the pedal steel guitar in the 1950s. The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. "Smile" is a single by guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour, released on 13 June 2006. The song was on the UK charts for 1 week and peaked at 72. Live The song was first performed at Gilmour's 2001 and 2002 live shows (and also on the accompanying DVD) where Gilmour introduced it as: "''This is a new one so if you are bootlegging, start your machines now.''" It was eventually recorded at his houseboat studio, the Astoria, for the 2006 album ''On an Island''. The song is in 3/4 time. During the three nights at the Royal Albert Hall during his On an Island Tour in 2006, empty CD wallets bearing the Smile single cover, and a CD-sticker were left on seats of audience members who would discover them on arrival, each one bearing a unique number. Remember That Night
''Remember That Night'' is a live concert recording of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's solo concerts at the Royal Albert Hall on 29, 30 & 31 May 2006 as part of his On an Island Tour. The title is taken from a line in the song "On an Island". It has been released on both DVD and Blu-ray formats. The DVD version came out 17 September 2007 in the UK, Europe and Australia, and on 18 September 2007 in the US and Canada. The Blu-ray version was released on 20 November 2007. David Gilmour
David Jon Gilmour ( ; born 6 March 1946) is an English guitarist, singer, songwriter, and member of the rock band Pink Floyd. He joined as guitarist and co-lead vocalist in 1967, shortly before the departure of founding member Syd Barrett. Phillip Geoffrey Targett-Adams (born 31 January 1951), known professionally as Phil Manzanera, is an English guitarist, songwriter and record producer. He is the lead guitarist with Roxy Music, and was the lead guitarist with 801, and Quiet Sun. In 2006, Manzanera co-produced David Gilmour's album ''On an Island'', and played in Gilmour's band for tours in Europe and North America. He wrote and presented a series of 14 one-hour radio programmes for station Planet Rock entitled ''The A-Z of Great Guitarists''.
