Barkakana Railway Station
Barkakana Junction railway station, (station code BRKA), serves Barkakana and the surrounding coal mining areas in Ramgarh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It comes under Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway zone. History In 1927, the Central India Coalfields Railway opened the Gomoh–Barkakana line. It was extended to Daltonganj in 1929. Later, these lines were amalgamated with East Indian Railway. East Central Railway Zone
The East Central Railway (abbreviated ECR) is one of the 19 railway zones in India. It is headquartered at Hajipur and comprises Sonpur, Samastipur, Danapur, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, and Dhanbad divisions. Bengal Nagpur Railway
The Bengal Nagpur Railway was one of the companies which pioneered development of the railways in eastern and central India. It was succeeded first by Eastern Railway and subsequently by South Eastern Railway. History The opening of the Mumbai–Thane line in 1853 marked the beginning of railways in India. Extension of the railways was set off throughout the country. On the north-eastern side of Mumbai, the Great Indian Peninsular Railway line was extended up to Bhusawal and then split in two. While one track led to Nagpur, the other to Jabalpur to connect with the East Indian Railway line from Allahabad to Jabalpur, thereby connecting Mumbai and Kolkata. Dhanbad railway division is one of the five railway divisions under East Central Railway zone of Indian Railways. It stands No.1 in revenue earning among all the divisions in Indian Railways. This railway division was formed on 5 November 1951 and its headquarters is located at Dhanbad in the state of Jharkhand of India.
