Bark River (Rock River)
The Bark River is a tributary of the Rock River, about long,U.S. Geological Survey. Via the Rock River, it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River. According to the Geographic Names Information System, it has also been known historically as the "Peelbark River". The Bark River rises in southern Washington County at Bark Lake In Richfield, WI and flows generally southwestwardly through Waukesha and Jefferson counties, past the communities of Hartland, Delafield, Summit Dousman and Rome, and through several small lakes. It joins the Rock River in Jefferson County just east of Fort Atkinson. In Jefferson County the Bark River collects the Scuppernong River. Delafield, Wisconsin
Delafield is a city in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, along the Bark River. The population was 7,085 at the 2010 census. The city of Delafield is a separate municipality from the Town of Delafield, both of which are situated in township 7 North Range 18 East. History Delafield was established in 1837, named after Dr. Charles Delafield of Milwaukee. It was the hometown of the Cushing brothers, who served the Union cause during the American Civil War—Alonzo (killed during Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg), William (led the raid on ), and Howard (an Indian fighter killed fighting the Apache in Arizona after the war). Cushing Memorial Park is named after them and is home to a war memorial in their honor, and Cushing Elementary is specifically named after Alonzo Cushing. Via the Bark and Rock rivers, it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River. It rises in southwestern Waukesha County and flows generally westwardly into Jefferson County, past the village of Palmyra. It joins the Bark River in Jefferson County, north of Whitewater. The U.S. Board on Geographic Names settled on "Scuppernong River" as the stream's name in 1906. According to the Geographic Names Information System, it has also been known historically as "Schupernong River", "Scupernong River", and "Scuppernong Creek." Fort Atkinson is a city in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, United States. It is on the Rock River (Illinois), Rock River, a few miles upstream from Lake Koshkonong. Rome is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Sullivan in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, United States, along the Bark River. The population was 752 at the 2020 census. Geography Rome is located at (42.980687, -88.631634). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.9 square miles (10.2 km2), of which 3.7 square miles (9.6 km2) is land and 0.2 square mile (0.5 km2) (6.01%) is water. Dousman, Wisconsin
Dousman is a village in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,419 at the 2020 census. History A post office called Dousman has been in operation since 1856. Founded in 1881, the village was named for Talbot C. Dousman, a local farmer and businessman who helped bring the Chicago and North Western railroad to the area. The village was incorporated in 1917. The village was at one time called "Bullfrog Station" because of the numerous bullfrogs in the area. The local baseball team is still called the Dousman Frogs and an annual frog jumping competition takes place during Dousman's Derby Days. The Dousman Community is very catholic based. Deb's Diner even had Fish Fry Fridays for the Catholics. There are two catholic churches St. Mary and St. Bruno. Most of the people who first came to Dousman were Catholic.
