Barenaked Ladies Are Me
''Barenaked Ladies Are Me'' is the seventh full-length original-material studio album by Barenaked Ladies. It was their first original-material album since ''Everything to Everyone'' in 2003. It was released in September 2006 internationally. The album was also the first full-length original-material album from the band following their decision to become independent rather than re-sign with Reprise. The cover art was created by a group of artists called Team Macho. The name has been cited by the band as a double entendre for "Barenaked Ladies Army". Due to the diversity and wealth of content recorded for the album, the release of the material from the ''Are Me'' sessions became more complicated than for earlier albums. The band recorded 29 songs during the sessions but the primary physical release of ''Barenaked Ladies Are Me'' is a 13-track CD. Five months after the release of ''Are Me'', a second primary physical album, '' Barenaked Ladies Are Men'', was released, and included ...

Gibberish
Gibberish, also called jibber-jabber or gobbledygook, is speech that is (or appears to be) nonsense. It may include speech sounds that are not actual words, pseudowords, or language games and specialized jargon that seems nonsensical to outsiders. "Gibberish" is also used as an imprecation to denigrate or tar ideas or opinions the user disagrees with or finds irksome, a rough equivalent of "nonsense", "folderol", or "claptrap". The implication is that the criticized expression or proposition lacks substance or congruence, as opposed to simply being a differing view. The related word ''jibber-jabber'' refers to rapid talk that is difficult to understand. Etymology The etymology of ''gibberish'' is uncertain. The term was first seen in English in the early 16th century. It is generally thought to be an onomatopoeia imitative of speech, similar to the words ''jabber'' (to talk rapidly) and ''gibber'' (to speak inarticulately). It may originate from the word ''jib'', which is ...

Simlish
Simlish is a fictional language featured in EA's ''Sim'' series of games. It debuted in ''SimCopter'' (1996), and has been especially prominent in ''The Sims'' franchise, as well as in its spinoff ''MySims'' series. Simlish can also be heard in ''Sims 2''. ''Sims 3'', ''SimCity 4'', ''SimCity Societies'', SimCity (2013 video game), ''SimCity'' (2013 version), and ''SimCity BuildIt'' but far less frequently. Civilized Creatures in ''Spore (2008 video game), Spore'' can also be taught to speak Simlish. It is also featured to an extent in Firaxis Games' ''Sid Meier's SimGolf''. Development Simlish was created because Will Wright (game designer), Will Wright, creator of ''The Sims'', knew that the game needed dialogue, but thought that using real-life languages such as English would cause the dialogue to be repetitive and would be expensive translating the entire dialogue Sims may say. He also decided that Simlish worked best as a "language" made up of gibberish words that could ...

A Singer Must Die
''A Singer Must Die'' is a collaboration between the Canadian music organization Art of Time Ensemble and vocalist Steven Page. It is Page's first release following his departure from Barenaked Ladies, although it was recorded before he left the band and originally conceived as a side project, and his first solo album since 2005's ''The Vanity Project''. It contains ten tracks, all of which are cover versions. Page performed all of the songs on the album live with the Art of Time Ensemble on June 20 and 21, 2008 at the Enwave Theatre in Toronto. The concert was broadcast on CBC radio the following month. Originally, the live concert was not intended to result in an album, but because of the success of the concert, they decided to go into the studio to record the songs. The album was put on Page's website for preorder about a month before its release. A certain number of preordered copies were autographed by Page, as well as Andrew Burashko, who is the pianist in the Art of Time ...

The album includes Christmas and Hanukkah songs as well as "Auld Lang Syne", which is traditionally sung on New Year's Eve. There are also several songs that are simply about the winter season. The album was the first album recorded at Steven Page's studio, Fresh Baked Woods and was the first released independently by Barenaked Ladies' Desperation Records label (and distributed by the Warner Music Group). It was the band's first studio album for which a "naked track" (recorded in the nude) was not recorded. This album achieved Gold status in Canada. Barenaked Ladies also collaborated with fellow Canadian artists Sarah McLachlan ("God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", originally recorded in August 1996) and a then relatively unknown Michael Bublé ("Elf's Lament"). Production While the album contains some faithful interpretations of traditional songs, much of the ...
