Barefoot In The Park (TV Series)
''Barefoot in the Park'' is an American sitcom that aired in 1970 on ABC. Based on Neil Simon's Broadway play of the same name, the series cast members are predominantly black, making it the first American television sitcom since ''Amos 'n' Andy'' to have a predominantly black cast (Vito Scotti is the sole major white character). ''Barefoot in the Park'' had been a 1967 film starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. Situation Comedy
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. Monaural or monophonic sound reproduction (often shortened to mono) is sound intended to be heard as if it were emanating from one position. John Leslie Coogan (October 26, 1914 – March 1, 1984) was an American actor and comedian who began his film career as a child actor in silent films. The Dead End Kids were a group of young actors from New York City who appeared in Sidney Kingsley's Broadway play ''Dead End'' in 1935. In 1937, producer Samuel Goldwyn brought all of them to Hollywood and turned the play into a film. They proved to be so popular that they continued to make movies under various monikers, including the Little Tough Guys, the East Side Kids, and the Bowery Boys, until 1958.
