Bardot (English Band)
Bardot were a trio of singer/songwriters whose sound was sometimes compared to Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Eagles. The band released 'Rockin In Rhythm' in 1978 on the RCA label, a collection of polished folk rock songs heavy on melody and complex harmonies. Three singles were also released, the debut ''Witchfire'' hitting number 14 in the Dutch charts. Ray McRiner on guitar and vocals, was also known for his compositions, arrangement, vocal and instrumental work with Sweet, and as touring guitarist for the band. Bardot were an Australian girl group which formed in 1999 on the Australian reality television series ''Popstars''. Aired in 1999, ''Popstars'' attracted high ratings and significant media exposure, resulting in the instant success of Bardot's debut single "Poison" and debut album '' Bardot'', both which entered the Australian and New Zealand charts at number 1. In 2001, the group released a second album ''Play It Like That'', featuring the top 5 ARIA singles " ASAP" and " I Need Somebody", before parting ways in early 2002. ''Bardot'' is the debut album by Australian female pop group of the same name, released in May 2000 (see 2000 in music). They had been formed during a TV talent quest, ''Popstars''. The album reached number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and the Official New Zealand Music Chart. It provided the singles " Poison" (April 2000), " I Should've Never Let You Go" (May) and "These Days" (August). History ''Bardot'' was recorded in early 2000 while the ''Popstars'' program was airing on Network Seven, and the show included footage of the girls in the recording studio, laying down vocals for songs. Original member Chantelle Barry recorded vocals for the album, but following her sudden departure from the group, new member Tiffani Wood re-recorded Barry's parts.
