Barberton is a town in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa, which has its origin in the 1880s gold rush in the region. It is situated in the De Kaap Valley and is fringed by the Makhonjwa Mountains. It is south of Mbombela and east of Johannesburg. Barberton was the seat of the Umjindi Local Municipality until the day of the 2016 Municipal Elections, when the Umjindi Local Municipality was merged into the Mbombela Local Municipality. History Prehistoric The mountains around Barberton are amongst the oldest in the world, dating back 3.5 billion years, and these mountains include some of the oldest exposed rocks on the planet. These volcanic rocks, which scientists call the Barberton Greenstone Belt, have given direct evidence of the conditions of life on the surface of the very early Earth. Barberton, Ohio
Barberton is a city in Summit County, Ohio, United States. The population was 26,550 at the 2010 census. Lying directly southwest of Akron, it is a suburb of the Akron metropolitan area. History Barberton was founded in 1891 by industrialist O.C. Barber, who planned the town according to his vision of industry, progress and community. In 1894 he moved the manufacturing operations of the Diamond Match Company, which he formed from a merger of 11 companies, from Akron to Barberton. He soon was producing 250 million matches a day. In the valley running parallel to the Tuscarawas River and the Ohio & Erie Canal, he oversaw the construction of factories, residential neighborhoods and a compact commercial downtown. In the center of the new city was Lake Anna, named after Barber's only daughter, Anna Laura Barber. Barberton is a census-designated place (CDP) in Clark County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,661 at the 2010 census, up from 4,617 at the 2000 census. Based on per capita income, one of the more reliable measures of affluence, Barberton ranks 90th of 522 areas in the state of Washington to be ranked. Geography Barberton is located in southwestern Clark County at (45.708502, -122.623036), part of a cluster of unincorporated communities north of Vancouver. It is bordered by Mount Vista to the north and northwest, Brush Prairie to the east, Five Corners to the southeast, Walnut Grove to the south, and Salmon Creek to the southwest. Interstate 205 forms the southwest edge of the Barberton CDP, separating it from Salmon Creek and Walnut Grove. The closest access points to I-205 are Exit 32 in Walnut Grove to the south and Exit 36 in Mount Vista to the northwest.
