Barbara Webster-Bourne
Barbara Webster-Bourne is the current Speaker of the Anguilla House of Assembly since 17 July 2020. She also held the post between 27 February 2010 and 11 May 2015 Career She ran on three occasions for the Island Harbour constituency. First for the Anguilla Democratic Party in the 1999 general election and then as an independent candidate in both the 2000 and 2005 general elections. Following the 2010 Anguillan general election, Webster-Bourne was voted in as the Speaker of the House of Assembly on 27 February, the first time a woman had held the post in Anguilla's history. She replaced outgoing speaker David Carty. The Governor of Anguilla, Alistair Harrison, said of her appointment, "I believe that she holds one of the most difficult jobs in Anguilla and I wish her well in her important duties." 2010 Anguillan General Election
General elections were held in Anguilla on 15 February 2010. Seven seats in the House of Assembly were contested in the election. The incumbent Chief Minister of Anguilla Osbourne Fleming chose to retire and not stand for election. Fleming was a member of the Anguilla National Alliance, which is part of the ruling Anguilla United Front (AUF), a conservative coalition that won four of the seven seats in the Assembly in the 2005 elections. The incumbent AUF was defeated, and former Chief Minister Hubert Hughes was sworn in to succeed Fleming as chief minister. 2015 Anguillan General Election
General elections were held in Anguilla on 22 April 2015. The result was a victory for the Anguilla United Front alliance, which won six of the seven elected seats in the House of Assembly. The ruling Anguilla United Movement failed to win a seat.
